    Guitar Gear Advice

I am looking to get guitar stuff, but since stores only try to sell you the most expensive stuff, and I don't have a teacher at the moment, I need some advice. I want a new amp (<$500), a cool pedal (I'm thinking a wah-wah {<$100}), and (later) an acoustic (<$500). I play blues, classic rock, and some hard rock. Thanks a lot.

Well, Line 6 amps are very nice and can run from 300 for a 50 watt to like 1200 for their nice Vetta model. You could also find a Marshall combo for under 500. As for pedals, save up a bit and try to pick up an AdrenaLinn, you will thank me later. As for acoustics, my favorites are Martin and Alvarez. In my opinion, Alvarez's give you more bang for the buck and play just as nice, if not nicer than a Martin.

What type of guitar(s) you play?

Finally, another person who likes line 6!!!!!! jeeez, nobody at my school likes them, they all tell me I am wasting my time and to get a marshal, I love heavy metal, but dont like playing it a whole lot.. Line 6 is my favorite amp, I am very partial to them. Also, on the acoustic, you may want to try a classical guitar, I love the bluesy sound on nylon strings, its crazy good.

hope i'm not hijacking a thread or anything, we could make this an official guitar purchase thing :)

what is a good guitar for my 1st electric? I've been playing a regular ol' acoustic for a few months now, and am thinking about going electro... from what I've heard, Fender (not squier) strats and Epiphone Les Pauls are pretty good for not too much money... what do you think?

the fender strat is IMO the best guitar for the money... you can jam, get that good blues sound, and then even go jazz with it. Good all around guitar

my brother in law has a line 6 and loves it. traded a marshall jcm800 series full stack in for it.
if you can find a mesa boogie for less than 500 grab that. the studio 22's sound great and are less expensive than say a mark IV.

Only problem i have with the line 6's are that there so many things to go wrong. If one effect dies your whole amps dead.

Look into Mesa Boogie if you want the most volume for your wattage. Marshals got a good metal sound but you need to crank the amp for it.

Please keep in mind this is comming from a bassist :)

Oh yea, I have a black Fender Mexican Standard Strat. The first thing I'm going to get, actually, is a black pickguard for it instead of the white one. Thanks for all the advice, everyone,

Check this place out www.rondomusic.com Don't be fooled by the prices, they are nice guitars (factory direct). I own one of the P-Bass copies that cost about $110 and the quality of the instrument is that of something probably worth around 300-400. As for an pedal, I'd recommend BOSS, either Blues Driver or whatever their orange distortion pedal is (OD-3?). Amp? Line-6 are pretty cool, but I'd go with a Carvin, www.carvin.com These are EXTREMELY good amps (factory direct again), quality of amps triple the price. And if you're getting into guitar now www.harmonycentral.com has some great forums that you might want to sign up for. Hope I helped.

Thanks for all the help guys. I'm looking into all the stuff. Seems, though, I'll have to wait for X-Mas for any of it. Well, at least that means I'm not paying for it myself!

Out of those two, I like the Epi les pauls. My first electric was an Epi Les Paul and it plays as well as my Gibsons. The newest Fenders feel cheap, as do the Squiers, probably due to the fact that Fender has been sold and bought like 10,000 times. The only Fender products I like are the P and J basses and their Cybertwin amps.

I agree with FreshmanBob about the Mesa's, they are the BEST OF THE BEST, but pricy. I have a mesa 50 watt head and matching cab, and its great. Line 6 amps are very reliable however, I like the spider and Vetta models.

Sorry for another post, but I disagree with the Boss OD-3 pedal. I got one for free and in my opinion the drive tone is too "tinny", thin, and "fake" sounding. For $40 its not bad, but I like the Line 6 PODs and (my favorite ) the AdrenaLinn. Both of which are multiple effect processors.

POD's are very nice pedals, even better with that big giant footswitch dealie. Pretty much any effect you could ever want will be found in the POD.

Also, I think someone mentioned Mesa/Boogies and my brother owns a Single Recto and all I have to say is
