Any One Else Play Dungeons & Dragons

just got into it about 3 weeks ago. the day after i played my first game i went out and bought my own set of dice and a couple books about it. a grand total of about 73$ in stuff. it's an awsome game and i love it so far. i recomend it to any one who has never played it.

for those who do play... whats your favorite race and class?

i'm in two different games right now. the first one i play an elven fighter named Pixel (started out at level 5) and the second one i play elven ranger named Lune.(started out at level 3 but accedently failed my system shock and stumbled onto something that killed 3 of my team but gave me enough experience to get to level 6)

I used to play it way back in the day when I was in the eigth and ninth grade. I had a 12th level elven ranger-lord. He was the bomb. Then, once I got to college I got into playing and dm'ing Rifts. That's what my friends and I play now, since it has so many options. D&D is a lot of fun though.

I played for about 4 or 5 years.

Favorite race is gnomes, and dwarves.

      Favorite class is Cleric.

My favorite PC was a 14th level Gnome Cleric. Started off at level 1, got to level 9, and had to earn double XP for levels 10 - 14 (racial level limits).

My nick, Thordic (pronounced Thor-deek people, not Thor-dick hehe) is the name of an NPC from when I used to GM. He was barbarian lord in the Greyhawk setting who ran a training school.

I can still tell you without thinking that pages saving throws are on in both the old and new style 2nd edition players handbooks (I've never played 3rd edition, and I don't plan on it. I have hundreds of dollars of 2nd edition stuff, and I'll stick with it.)

Another good RPG is the old West End Games Star Wars RPG. WOTC bought that license and screwed up that RPG too, but I have tons of old books, and I play online.

Anyone interested in playing online, its played on BBs, you don't need any experience (we'll teach you), and you can play in any area of Star Wars you want. The setting is 9 years after Endor, and the club has the following branches:

      New Republic Navy
      New Republic Starfighter Corps
      New Republic Army
      New Republic Special Forces
      New Republic Security Force
      New Republic Intelligence

      Imperial Navy
      Imperial Starfighter Corps
      Imperial Army

Smugglers, Bounty Hunters, Free Planets, Mercenaries, Security Groups, Starports, Crime Guilds, and many others are available in the Independant Sector.

Also, Jedi characters can be made as either a Jedi or a Dark Jedi. (Jedi are a lot harder to get approved, though).

I know, shameless plugging for the RPG I've been playing there for years, its a lot of fun. Nowhere near as fast as you may be used to in tabletop, single adventures can take months of real time, but its a blast.

If you are interested and need help, drop me a line

Yes yes, I know, Im a dork. Bite me

Rifts is power gamer crap No offense, but I can't stand that system.

Bah! Rifts is just fine. I haven't played rifts itself, but I've played Robotech/macross. It's the same system. There's nothing wrong about powergaming so long as you admit that's what you're doing.

I'm currently in 2 dnd games, and one marvel superhero's game. I'm looking at starting my own macross game sometime soon.

          well time for lunch. laters

I used to play a long time ago, but it was so hard to get together a reliable group that I just quit. Plus there's such a social stigma against RPGs and D&D in particular. The 3rd edition rules are great btw.

I've been playing conistently since around '92. Our current gaming group (with 4 paintball players!) has been around since 96!

My favorite character is my current one - A 9th Level Paladin, which I've taken from 1st level. One of the most challenging and most rewarding characters I've ever played.

While I grew up with 2nd Ed, we tried, and have adoped 3rd Ed. It's simply an awesome system! Also, we still use all (well, except for the PHB & DMG!) our old 2nd ed stuff for reference material. While the kits don't convert easily, there is a plethora of Prestige clasess available through the net...

As for Star Wars, I've not played the old system, but Wizards did a GREAT job on the new edition. (I had read the old system)

I grew up (sort of), on first edition. I still have a fighter-mage started in 1980. I never liked the second edition, and I just tried playing that new fangled edition this summer, but I just don't like it. I find it way too rigid. The first edition was the best, if you had a creative DM.

Did anyone ever play the first D&D. That was before the Advanced D&D. I have the paperback books printed in 1974. Those were a little before my time
