The Nordiques sucked major rear endage in Quebec, the Avs aren't the same team at all.

It's like buying a liquor license from another liquor store because the city isn't selling any new ones. The new store may operate under the same license number, but it isn't the same store for sure. Hope that analogy helps :)

As for the term "Hockeytown", I think that's pretty lame. If there IS a "Hockeytown" it sure as hell isn't in the US :) It'd be in Canada somewhere, or maybe the Czech Republic.

There are plenty of "hockey towns" in the US. NY is a pretty big hockey town, I mean hell, we have THREE local teams, but it gets overshadowed because of those damn Yankees (I'm not a baseball fan...). If you only had to pick one sport, NY is definitely a Baseball Town :)

Boy is that an understatment! Pretty much an embarressment to the league. Good analogy!

Richter is still a Top 10 Goalie, the only reason his stats have been suffering is because of a total lack of defensive responsibility and accountability on the team. Not to mention he is the BEST pressure goalie in the game. Why do you think he was the Olympic goalie? Because when the pressure is on (Olympics, playoffs, etc) he gets BETTER instead of falling apart.

Blackburn is probably the best goalie to come along in a decade. He did better as an 18 year old rookie than some STARTING NHL goalies. With another few years to learn under Richter, playing 30-35 games a season, he'll be the Rangers #1 goalie for the next 10 years, at least.

Ok, say what you want. Yes i agree richter was awesome, especially in game 7 vs the devils in 94, which i was at. and the next year after. but many things have gone downhill for the guy, mainly being both knees blown out, and i was also at the game when he messed up the second one. And yes i do agree that blackburn will be a good competetive goalie with some help from richter, and he will be there number one down the road, but nothing more in my opinion, but time will tell.

Say what you wish, but if it wasnt for a guy like sakic they wouldnt be around. yeah they do have other players but they dont come that close to him. and think about this...two years ago when he lead the league in goals, pts, and assists (i think?) and compare that to the year before that, which was no where near it. why do you think such an improvemnet??? because it was his last year on his contract and wanted to get ready for free agency! lucky enough for the av's they picked him up.

No, i dislike them because had to move to win, all revolving around money, needed a better fan base, imo. and yes i do dislike the red wings too, and thet "old school" hockey town thing is pretty lame of an excuse .

what i am about to say is the final word on what will happen this season. and no one can argue cause miss cleo back me up on this one.

rangers will win 65 games this year with mike richter winning 47 and blackburn getting 18. they will sweep through the eastern conference playoffs easily beating every apponent. when they make it to the stanley cup finals they will face the avs where they will go up to game 7 and the rangers will win in the 4th period of overtime.

that is final hope everyone had a good season sorry devils they were at the bottom of the eastern so they didnt make the playoffs. better luck next year .
