The Nordiques sucked major rear endage in Quebec, the Avs aren't the same team at all.
It's like buying a liquor license from another liquor store because the city isn't selling any new ones. The new store may operate under the same license number, but it isn't the same store for sure. Hope that analogy helps :)
As for the term "Hockeytown", I think that's pretty lame. If there IS a "Hockeytown" it sure as hell isn't in the US :) It'd be in Canada somewhere, or maybe the Czech Republic.
There are plenty of "hockey towns" in the US. NY is a pretty big hockey town, I mean hell, we have THREE local teams, but it gets overshadowed because of those damn Yankees (I'm not a baseball fan...). If you only had to pick one sport, NY is definitely a Baseball Town :)
