I almost bought an original Desert Eagle from Israeli Arms back in the eighties.

The only reason I didn't was the grip was HUGE. I tried the .357 and I almost couldn't get my hand around the thing. Doesn't make for a real confident grip on the weapon.

But they are solidly built machines, no doubts there.

One thing you can't do in NY is even legally HOLD a handgun outside of a gunshop without a permit. I kow it's stupid but it's the law here.

All the money in a bullet is in the brass. everything else is dirt cheap. especially if you use hard cast lead bullets and not nice jacketed bullets from big name manufacturers.

hmmm well, 18 and 21 are damn close. Plus i can talk the parents into purchasing, and giving it to me until i can have full ownership, either that or another family member. I believe it is retarted tho, you can do much more damage with a long rifle. and if some one wants something bad enough they can get it, no matter what age. I believe i will be ordering a custom caspian from zbody's family's gun smithing business. HE is takin care of me so far, and i can work it legally so that i recieve my hand gun upon age 18. i realize it is 2 years away, but that gives me alot of time to think and make sure it is what i want, and to take all the proper saftey courses a while. MAkes sence doesnt it?

Yeah I know, a handgun vs. my AR-10... hmmmmm

They get pissy about concealablity with handguns. Kinda hard to conceal a long gun.

                  Here's mine

I have nothing but good things to say about Glock.

It is a Model 20 10mm with Trijicon adj. night sights and a Leupold Laser sight. I recommend a Hogue wrap for the grip as well if you decide on Glock if for no other reason than having a place to stuff the pressure-switch for your laser sight.

Mine is pre-high cap mag ban. I got the 15 shot mags, although I should probably stop using them and get some of the newer 10 shot mags before I wear these out.

Good luck picking one as I think most if not all the suggestions given to you in this thread are good. I recommend you hit the range and see which feels good in your hand while weilding and shooting.

Ever consider getting a nice single or double action revolver? Yeah, the new Semis on the marker are popular... but nothing beats an old timepiece...

See if you cant dig yourself up a Ruger Red Hawk, P100, or a Colt Python/Anaconda. Im turning 21 in a year, and a handgun is #1 on my list of things to do... until recently I really wanted a Glock 17 Lomgslide, but im definitely holding out for an Anaconda if I can find one... the craftsmanship is unbeatable.

Eventually, I wouldnt mind getting a nice semi... something like a Browning HP or Ruger P88... I think, design wise, Ruger makes some of the sexiest firearms around. I've been shooting a 77/22 with custom aperatures, and a Ruger 77S Stainless Safari for some time now... and they are both schweet schweet guns.

check out www.auctionarms.com for some stuff. Its good.

Since a few people are showing of their handgun collection....

My Star International 45 and the pride of my collection. My grandfather's Colt 32. He bought it when he was about 18 years old for $20 (he would be about 96 today if he were alive) and it's still in pefect firing condition and a lot of fun to shoot. I would consider selling it the day my blood turns to yogurt

Load that's one of the purtiest colt's I've ever seen

My grandfather has an original 1911A that he got when he bought his Thompson (Tommy gun!). Needless to say, it's my absolute favorite handgun of all time.

For you though, I'd agree w/ zbody. Caspian's are VERY nice guns. Well worth the money, very reliable, shoot great, etc. (grandfather has one as well) Hopefully, I'll be getting myself one in a tad over a year when I turn 21.
I'm way too old for this ****.

                              Glock

Out of all of the guns I own, my pre-ban Glock 17 is my favorite. That is my home personal protection firearm. Yes, you can do much more damage with a long gun, but my 17 with the pre ban Mag loaded with Federal Hydroshock will do the job nicely. WITHOUT ANY COLLATERAL DAMAGE! A long gun like my 30/30 might go through an intruder, wall, neighbor's wall, neighbor in that order. Plus if we were both walking down the street with our firearms, I bet you get tackled by the police with your AR-15 before I do with my Glock.

P.S. The Glock is light, well balanced, and durable. My buddy is a local cop, and that is his back-up/personal firearm. Of course his is a Glock 19.
