Waiver to order food?

There's fairly new place (not sure if it's a chain or not) called Heart-attack Jacks.

Anyway, I hear that they make you sign a waiver if you want to order their hottest hot wings.

Has anyone else seen something like this? I thought it was kind of funny. If you eat a certain number, you get your name on a "wall of fame"

I'm sure it is at least, in part, a publicity thing. Something to set them appart.

On the other hand, I've had some hot sauce that was so hot it almost made me gag/vomit (and I really like hot spices). It was at a sample booth (at a wine tasting convention) and they had about 5 levels of hotness. You could just help yourself to the first four but they kept the open jar of the 5th level behind the counter. They didn't just want people trying it so you had to ask and they would make sure you knew what you were getting into. I didn't have to sign a waiver but I could see why they might have wanted me to.

Ever hear of a hot sauce called The Bomb?

I had maybe 5-8 drops on a hot dog, and I literally had trouble breathing, it felt like my throat was swollen half shut

I love spicy food...

Best hot sauce ever, in my opinion, is West Indian Scotch Bonnet Sauce. It goes GREAT on hot dogs.

For those of you who never put hot sauce on hot dogs before, try it sometime! Not like Lousiana Hot Sauce or Tabasco, but a good hot sauce. You don't regret it.

But alot of resturants if you order a hamburger anything but well done will make you sign a waiver.

I order beef medium rare all the time, if Im at a steakhouse I order it rare.

I've never had to sign a waiver.

most places i've been to just have a little legal disclaimer at the bottom of their menu pages

As long as the inside of the beef reaches ~150-160 degress F, you are okay ...

Pork and Chicken on the other hand are a different story ...

We have an international food store here were you can by pure capsicum (capsasian?) forgot which. You have sign a waiver and include a copy of your license *L* ... comes in a medical bottle with a dropper ...

I love peppers ... use them in/with/on everything ...

Capsium and Cayenne (red pepper) are the same thing.

Correct ... I had to check the label on the bottle when I got home ...

They sell pure capsaicin which is the "heat" in the pepper. You can buy this stuff in pure form, but its a killer ... *L*

Capsicum is the stuff that makes hot food hot.

It isn't a type of pepper or anything, its a natural compound found in spicy food.

Pure capsicum can give you burns that would require medical treatment.

If you aren't a trained chef, using pure capsicum can literally be dangerous.

Actually you are mixing up some words: (easy to do when dealing with peppers)

Capsicum --
Chile terminology is confusing; pepper, chili, chile, chilli, Aji, paprika and Capsicum are used interchangeably for "chile pepper" plants in the genus Capsicum. The word Capsicum comes from the Greek kapto, meaning "to bite" (a reference to pungency or heat). In Mexico, Central American and the southwestern U.S.A., a Capsicum is called a Chile pepper. To confuse matters even more, a sweet bell pepper is often called a capsicum pepper whereas a hot pepper is often called a chile pepper !

Capsium --
Capsium (Red Pepper). Capsium, or cayenne, is another name for red
pepper which can be eaten as a spice or taken in capsule form

Capsaicin --
All chile peppers contain a chemical, called capsaicin, which is found concentrated in the veins of the fruit (not the seeds as is widely believed). Capsaicin, when brought into contact with mucous membranes, such as the inside of the mouth, stimulates the nerve endings, making your brain think that it is being 'burned', that real pain and damage are being inflicted. The brain counters by releasing endorphins, similar in structure to morphine, which bring about the "Chile-High", just like a runner experiences euphoria after passing the peak of their endurance.
