I'm briefly looking at these lists of movies and i'm kind of dissapointed and amazed at the same time. All these new age movies are extremely meke compared to some movies that should be listed. Rush hour 2? Gladiator? Give me a break. Granted they are good movies, and i own both of them, but to try and put them in a catagory as "best" movies, is just rediculous. If that's all the exposure you have to movies, then i'd suggest you go to the video store and check out the classic section. You must be extremely deprived if Fast and The Furious or Blade is one of your favorite movies. Most comodies you can only watch so many times cause after a while, you learn all the jokes and it becomes boring. Pick up almost any Alfred Hitchcock movie and check it out. He made some of the best movies out there.

I'm sure there's more, these are just off the top of my head.

Comedy - Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas, Something About Mary. Amelie was good too.

Suspense - The Usual Suspects, Silence of the Lambs

          Action/Adventure - Indiana Jones Trilogy

          Thriller/Horror - Alien Trilogy (it's a horror, but could fit in Sci-Fi)

War - Saving Private Ryan or Das Boot.

Sci-Fi - Clockwork Orange or Eraserhead (not sure if they really fit, but a dead giveaway would be Blade Runner

Drama - Angelas Ashes, The Royal Tennenbaums, Schindler's List.

IMHO AKIRA is one of the best movies I'VE ever seen.
