...goal in life is to make their kid a total nerd? It's like I want to get my hair dyed, nope, that will get me killed and my head shaved, I want to get a mohawk, nope head shaved, i want to get peircings, nope, they gonna get ripped out by my dad... Hmmm, its like alot of parents are the same and they don't want their kids doing stuff, just beacuse they don't like it. for a while, I wasn't allowd to goto partys or do much so I became kinda anti-social, now im feeling the effects of it, or mabe its because I'm not a "gangsta thug" like everyone else is, but ya, whatever the thing is.

And whatever you do, don't fall for the "gangsta" type image that "seems" cool. In the end, being yourself is the best thing. Don't do it because you feel like that's the only way you'll fit in...do it because you believe it's you. But remember, there are plenty of other things to set you out from the crowd and be cool at the same time. You just gotta find that out for yourself. You'll be much happier knowing you're your own person rather than a clone of someone else who thought they were the shiznit.

yeah, dyed hair and piercings was fun. but now i look back and ask myself why? at least they are not permanent. tell your parents you want to express yourself, and that hair can grow and you can deal with a small hole in your body.
come home with a realistic fake tattoo. thatll throw em off. just dont come home with a real one.

I've got this sneaking suspicion that your parents HATE YOU!!!

No, seriously, they are just trying to help you make some good decisions. Granted, you may not see the logic in why they don't want you to get a tat or piercing, but it makes perfect sense to them. They just don't want you to make a decision that you will regret later on in life. Whether that really is the case with piercings and tatoos and funky hair-dos is irrelevant because they don't see it that way from where they are at.

The cool thing about this is that you sound like a kid who, at least on the outside, has respected their wishes. That is good. As long as you are under their roof, eating their food, and enjoying the security they provide...you OWE them respect.

One final thought...what you think of as nerdy now, you will one day come to understand as a gift. When you have kids of your own, you will want them to be nerds too. When you get out of highscool, you will understand that jock, goth, nerd, geek, hottie, whatever....we all have to survive. You're gonna be suprised.

Well Shartley, thats not his goal! People with all the piercings etc are not trying to be popular, they just wanna hang out with a different crowd, or just be different!

umm ok....well obviously you DIDNT know or you wouldnt have typed that massive essay about how hes trying to be popular, and you dont need it to be popular...and im not trying to get on your badside, but, just because you have 4 kids doesnt mean you know more about them than me, I mean, who WOULD know more, a parent, or a kid?

Oh, and you have been through it but when you reach 24 and/or have your own child, you forget about everything you did/wanted to do when you were a kid, and lose all coolness....or at least thats what happened with MY parents.....
