What do you guys think of gaming clans?

i think they are fun, but ya, some people take it too serious. i'm big on athletics, and going out staying in shape, but its fun to be in leagues and tournies for gaming.

i am actually going to my first LAN this month, it should be fun. there is nothing wrong with gaming, and being on a team, just don't let it take over your life. i wouldn't diss clans, teams, squads, or whatever you want to call them, because some of them are much more thn just computer geeks....

I'm not digging on people that are a part of these clans. I work, have alot of friends, a beautiful girlfriend and I too am in a clan. That is where i have aquired my knowledge of how rediculous some of these members are. Playing games is fine...running the clan as if it were a military outfit is something completely different.

not all these clan gamers are stuck in their homes all day.

Like 8 of my friends have a counterstrike clan, and were all friends in real life, we're all outgoing.

They have matches, and are sponsored by a local internet cafe, so they can compete in matches and actually communicate in real life since theyre sitting right next to eachother and everything.

When there is so much money involved it isn't hard to see why they are so into it. The current best gamers in the world make their livings playing games. In South Korea they have star craft on everything from chips to shoes because it is such a big game over there. I own a game center and people pay me $3/hr to play Counter Strike over the net with their friends and clan mates. It is a huge market and is growing every day with things like the CPL and 200+ lan parties.

I've been in my clan for 1 whole year now. It's cool because whenever I hop into our public server, I have a little bit of control over what's going on. Evening out teams, kicking/bannin Team-Killers, etc... is really convenient.

One thing about our clan, is that we're not trying to be the "best" clan, persay. Yeah, we participate in leagues and stuff, but for the most part, we're just a bunch of guys who happen to like to play the same game, together.

all of us just pitched in to buy/build a new server, and It's nothing that a single one of us could do by ourselves.


It's all about playin' the game you enjoy, with people you enjoy being around. On our forums, we talk a bunch of crap. Not Just Counter-Strike.

woah wait a minute people get played to play video games?????? that sounds almost as bad as people who think nerf is more "intense" than paintball... i find it kind of stupid that you can win money to play video games seeing as how ive played video games since before i can remeber i think im entitled to some of this cash

Not that it's related to counterstrike or anything, but I was paid by Visual Concepts over the summer to play video games 8+ hrs a day 5 days a week and the occasional weekends. (if you don't know VIsual Concepts does all of the 2K series of sports games for Sega and other random games)
