I'm probably gonna get Flamed here but this is my theory.

when the gulf war finished, America had quite a number of troups being paid for By Saudi because Sadam Insane was still in power. The reason as I am led to believe is If you overthrow a Government, you have to do everything like set up hospitals, schools, The new Government Blah blah blah. and that is paid for and organised by the victor & what ever the country can cough up $ wise. Now if the "Threat" is still there These armed forces can be payed for buy another Government and not you own.
That was working great for the States until some Maniac decided to fly a couple of planes into buildings. The States found out who was responsible and went in to get him, the trouble was that the Talaban wouldnt play ball. So that Government had to be overthrown.

Now the US and the Brits have to pay to set up the infastructure of Afganistan. Major bummer cos Afganistan has nothing but dirt and goats to help pay for this.

But there is a threat still looming in the gulf with oil......that can pay for both Countries to be rebuilt.

On the Bin Ladin issue he is still another threat out there that could raise its but ugly head when a specific Governments need it too.

Dont get me wrong I'm all for getting these Bastards, but there is bigger issues that our Governments dont tell us cos we are on a need to know basis......And we ony need to know what they WANT to tell us.

      Tis true about the Oil,

Personally that is my take. Oil is playing a big part of this problem with Iraq and the Taliban/Bin Laden.

I watched a show on the Discovery channel that Iceland is run on hydrogen instead of oil. They also stated that the US is trying to find ways to divert it's dependency on oil and search for other means and less costly means of solving the situation.

Currently this is a power struggle between the Middle East and the Super Powers as to who ultimately will control the oil. The Middle East knows that they can control the countries dependant on them for oil. However Bush is a very out spoken person and is not about to lie down and let them roll over him.

I think currently what Bush is concocting now is best.
We can't let them take over.

I was told that of the oil that's used in the US, only 6% of it is from the middle east.

I figure that he used a casette tape instead of video cuz of the whole "Analyze the rock formation and find out where he is" and "gee i've got a big wound from the bombing in afganistan" deal.

Your're right joey, the U.S. doesn't get very much oil at all from the Middle East. I read that it was only around 4%. I think the oil factor is just a big excuse and that they're not telling us everything about the situation.

Does anybody else wonder what's up with the Al-Jazzera satellite TV network? These guys always get video/audio tapes of Bin Laden, plus they are always the ones who do personal interviews of the guy (although they haven't to my knowledge since we began our military campaign against the Taliban controlled Afganistan). So, my question is, if we're so interested in finding this guy at all costs why don't we have informers in the station or CIA watching everyone that works for the station? Seriously...they may not know exactly where he is, but I bet they know someone who does. Whose the guy who drops these tapes off? Follow him back. Does anybody else wonder this?

I'm not sure on mid eastern oil alone, but 60% of all our oil is foreign.

*edit - ICOM, could you tell us more, what was said, where did you get your inof from?

The owners of Al-****arra made a statement recently about no longer relasing any of his stuff. I believe it has to do with the fact that they dont want US repercussions happening to them. Also, they havent come out and said it was him. They are analyzing it...a couple of people that know him said they were unsure if it was him at best.
EDIT: well, CNN just said analysis came back; most likely him. Well, time to step up the bombing...
And Iraq; well, he shouldve been removed a long time ago. I read an article last night regarding our actions over there, and how the left-thinking groups are " blind to the bigger picture". Essentially, and I agree, it said that to think that bloodshed wont solve the problem, and that sanctions have killed millions of innocents because of sever trade restrictions, and that our foreign policy with Iraq is our own type of terrorism, fail to see a few things. One, Saddam MURDERED thousands of his own people, for nothing other than what they believed. Two, international aid has been pouring into that country; where does it go? Government. You draw the conclusion. Three, a war, though most people dont want it, will change the power structure in that country, allowing the people to live freely, AND allowing them access to the healthcare they so desperately need right now.
Honestly, someone who idolizes josef Stalin, and follows his beliefs religiously, probably shouldnt be in the position of leader of a country.

I think a few ppl misunderstood what I said.

America doesn't need the oil. You guys will be able to use it to pay for the issue at hand.

Why pay for something yourself when you can get someone else to pay for it

Okay I don't want to sound like some crazy conspiracy guy but I put two and two together today after hearing about Iraq accepting the UN resolution and the new release of bin Laden's tape: bin Laden and Hussein are working together. If you really think about it, bin Laden is probably hiding out in Iraq and most likely supplying Hussein with biological agents. Also, from what I understand, bin Laden said that if we attacked Iraq there would be serious repercussions(sp?) for the United States. So, I'm guessing that in return for bin Laden's protection, Hussein asked bin Laden to use his assets to protect Iraq from US invasion. I also believe that the new tape could contain a message for present sleeper cells in the US and that bin Laden activated them, telling them that if the US attacked Iraq to go ahead and unleash another terrorist attack. Of course I could be wrong and most likely am. But you can't possibly change my set of mind right now. Simply put, if we attack Iraq both sides with most likely suffer great casualties both militarily as well as civily(sp?). Sorry if this freaks anyone out, its just my opinion on the whole Middle East situation.

i think that this war is alot about gaining popularity for bush. i could be wrong but thats my opinion. i think hes trying to pull attention away from the economy and turn it towards the war effort. that being said i also think that this war is nessasery(sp?). something needed to be done, and i am glad that it is happening. thats what i think.

Remington, That's a very good Interpritation of the recent events here, and It seems to make very good sense.

The fact that Hussein might be supplying Him with bioligical and chemical agents is frightening.
