    Live from Virginia

Hey everyone, just checking in from the mountains of VA. Willis, VA, not like anyone would have heard of it or anything.

I actually drove through West Virginia getting here, I just floored it and ran. Sorry Brian, Carl, and Timmy, but you live in a scary state. Stay away from your sisters!

I just felt like posting because I had such a WINNER of a trip.

First, I hit Roanoke at rush hour. Not like there really IS a rush hour in Roanoke, compared to NJ, but hey, traffic is traffic and it sucks.

So, what do I do to make up for lost time? Go faster, of course!

    *sirens*

Crap. 80 in a 65, and there was no warning coming. I could see "We got ourselves a yankee!" all over this VA State Troopers face. $117 ticket. Wee.

Oh wait, its gets better. Oh yes.

The directions I had gotten said to go STRAIGHT once you got off 81, for about 45 minutes. In reality, you go about 20 minutes, hang a right, and then go about 20 more.

So after I cross a mountain (which was a LOT of fun at around 40 miles an hour WEEEEE!!!), I stop for directions. The people at the gas station have NO idea where I am talking about. Two hunters walk in, and one sorta knows where I want to go. He gives me some directions, and I head out to my car to get the number to call and confirm with the person whose house I am headed to.

One problem. Door is locked. Keys are on the dashboard. DOH! The same guy who helped me with directions says he has a splitting wedge and an aluminum rod at his house, to sit tight, and he'll be right back. So I wait, and he shows up.

After about 15 minutes, I manage to pop the door open. After managing to crack the fiberglass on the door column.

Long story short, about ten and a half hours after I left home, I finally finished my "7" hour trip.

But anyway, hopefully I used up all my bad luck so far, so things can only go uphill till I head home.

Wow that was a heck of a crappy trip.

At least it all worked out in the end.

No bad luck today, thank god Went geocaching, discovered that the Blue Ridge Mountains are rather tiring to hike

I've also discovered what a social wasteland this area of the country is. There isn't a bar within almost 40 miles! What the hell is wrong with this place!!!???

One funny story today... they have like 8 "outside dogs" here. Tonight I go outside, and I see one holding a stick, so I call to the dog, and it runs over, and I go to grab the stick.

Stick's are furry and mushy. The dog musta found a dead deer up in the woods, and ripped its leg off. It was a rather unpleasant surprise

Oh well, off to the market now to buy some beer. I'm gonna have fun if it kills me.

              Welcome to the Commonwealth...

Thordic, Thordic, Thordic, (shakes head and sighs):

I could've told you to leave the Jersey plates at home. Although I live in the part of VA just outside D.C., I've wandered all over the Commonwealth, and, no offense to any Roanokers, but I don't consider that city the brightest of the Southern lights. Fact is, I havn't been in Roanoke since I sat for the bar exam (good times!).

Here's hoping you enjoy the rest of your stay down here, let me know if you're passing through the D.C. area, and we'll get together and go over to Pev's and pester Rob (heh).

Sleep? Isn't that a completely inadequate substitute for caffeine?

Ahh, I suppose I should have posted here saying I was home I was only down for the weekend, yeah, one hell of a long haul for a weekend trip, I know

At least I am consoled by the fact that I've flown down Rte. 64 at well over 100 mph before without getting a ticket 80 in a 65 is a measly catch

I've been to VA plenty of times, I have friends in VA beach who I go visit. Can't beat a free place to stay at the beach
