Hey everyone, just checking in from the mountains of VA. Willis, VA, not like anyone would have heard of it or anything.
I actually drove through West Virginia getting here, I just floored it and ran. Sorry Brian, Carl, and Timmy, but you live in a scary state. Stay away from your sisters!
I just felt like posting because I had such a WINNER of a trip.
First, I hit Roanoke at rush hour. Not like there really IS a rush hour in Roanoke, compared to NJ, but hey, traffic is traffic and it sucks.
So, what do I do to make up for lost time? Go faster, of course!
*sirens*
Crap. 80 in a 65, and there was no warning coming. I could see "We got ourselves a yankee!" all over this VA State Troopers face. $117 ticket. Wee.
Oh wait, its gets better. Oh yes.
The directions I had gotten said to go STRAIGHT once you got off 81, for about 45 minutes. In reality, you go about 20 minutes, hang a right, and then go about 20 more.
So after I cross a mountain (which was a LOT of fun at around 40 miles an hour WEEEEE!!!), I stop for directions. The people at the gas station have NO idea where I am talking about. Two hunters walk in, and one sorta knows where I want to go. He gives me some directions, and I head out to my car to get the number to call and confirm with the person whose house I am headed to.
One problem. Door is locked. Keys are on the dashboard. DOH! The same guy who helped me with directions says he has a splitting wedge and an aluminum rod at his house, to sit tight, and he'll be right back. So I wait, and he shows up.
After about 15 minutes, I manage to pop the door open. After managing to crack the fiberglass on the door column.
Long story short, about ten and a half hours after I left home, I finally finished my "7" hour trip.
But anyway, hopefully I used up all my bad luck so far, so things can only go uphill till I head home.

Went geocaching, discovered that the Blue Ridge Mountains are rather tiring to hike
