I saw it today at 7. Don't waste your money, I thought it was lousy. The last 45 minutes were cool. It was boring, I fell asleep twice, and I woke up at 1:00 today, so it's not like I was tired when I got there. I think lots of people felt the same way I did too. When it started, almost everyone clapped. At the end, nobody clapped, everyone just filed out quietly.

On a positive note, Terminator 3 looks sweet. And dumb and Dumberer will be the high point in my life.

Don't listen to gimp, he obviously has no taste in movies :) He wants to see Dumb and Dumberer for cryin out loud. The first one was so bad it made my eyes bleed.

The movie was great. I'm definitely gonna go see it again.

I have to agree with gimp, although I haven't seen it, I have no desire after watching the first one. I thought I just wasted 3 hours of my life that I will never get back.
The only part I liked in the first one was seeing how beautiful New Zealand was. That was nice, other than that ...yawn...

I thought Harry Potter was better, I kept saying all through out LOTR1 that the grand master wizard Dumbledore, should have showed up in this movie to show them how it is done.

I will probably not watch this one. Sorry

As for dumb and dumber...if there is a second one yeah I would go see it, the first was filmed in my home town Providence RI so I would have to say I would see it.

I am a more comedy viewer any how.

Grand Master Wizard? Was Dumbledore in the KKK? :)

With that comment about Harry Potter being better, you are officially off my christmas list.

I'm sorry I just can't bring myself to like that movie. We have it on dvd and I had plenty of time to watch it. However I stayed up one night to view it entirely. That is the first movie I have fallen a sleep through. I have never fallen a sleep through any show or movie... I need closier so I watch even if the movie is completely horrible.

Now it just collects dust. My husband disliked it so much he fell a sleep and never finished watching it.

Oh well we disagree, so what was I getting for christmas?

I'm sorry but if it wasn't for LOTR, Harry Potter and the entire Fantasy Genre would not even exist.

Harry Potter was fun movie, but LOTR is a real film.

Okay the first part of this is probably true, however if you mean film as in 3 to 4 hours of my wasted time, than yes it is a film.

I mean the movie is so long you even have to abbreviate the title.

I just kidding with you guys don't take it personal...really though I didn't like it

I think you should wait till the 3 movies are out on DVD and watch them. It'll take you a few weeks, but at least you'll have an end to the story:)

I thought it was pretty good, but if you don't understand the complexities of the relationships between the races, then it probably would be less enjoyable.

The elves are losing power. Evil has grown stronger than their elven....magic...stuff The the ring of power being destroyed will make their 3 rings powerless! The elves hope to escape from middle earth by way of boat. They can do this because the ship's captain has the third ring given to elves (The lady of the wood and Elrond were the other luck winners).

Just to make life complicated for everybody, Elrond's daughter loves a man Elrond wishes that she would leave middle earth with the rest of her race, but Aragorn a she grow to love eachother more an more and finally make plans to wed. Elrond then agreed that if Aragorn rose to power again by defeating evil, he would allow them to marry. (Aragorn was the heir to the throne of men, but that was hidden from everyone [including him] so that evil did not find the young king too soon. Whe Aragorn was told that he could not marry Arwen [soon after he first saw her, this is], he denied the throne and left for 30 years to lead a life of solitude. At one time, he was very tired after a trek, and went to Lorien. There he once again saw Arwen, and that is when they conspired to be wed.)

Therefore, Elrond is highly inclined to LET the men get destroyed while he and his elves, and most imortantly his daughter leave middle earth. If he helps the men win the war, he is giving up his daughter.

Arwen is giving up her immortality (although she will still live for hundreds of years), as well as ANY power she ever had by staying on middle earth. Once the ring is destroyed, the elven race will lose the power that it is so apparent they have now!

Aragorn loves her beyond all else, but also wants what's best for her. HUGE conflict of interest between having her go, and having her stay.

Go watch the movie. If you have seen it already, go watch it again. Suddenly the conversations mean something!

All and all, only about 5 people really want to triumph over evil, the rest want to survive and protect their own interests. Aragorn mus t unite them in battle. That is what he *sort of* does throughout most of the movie.

oooooooooo...k All I'm trying to say is that the movie doesn't suck, go see it

-Don't try to use your fancy smancy "logic" on me! It won't work!

-It is better to stay silent, and be thought a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

They never mention in the movies the Elrond is a half-elf. He hates that part of himself. That is why he dislikes Men so much.

Fry you liked the books and you still disliked the movie! That is just weird.

Yes this movie was amazing, best storyline ever for any movie. IMO better than all 5 starwars combine. It has a twisting plot that makes you stay awake to understand. LOTR is even better than the matrix, and i like that movie.
