Yeah I see it too Syntax. This Acadmey, though, has an excellent P/T staff and program, its as tough as the State Police Academy in Seagirt (sp?), NJ is. Our last two weeks we will be up to 3 mile runs, M-F, and lots and lots of pushups/situps/etc. Every month they give P/T tests too, and measure body fat, etc. throughout our time there. But this is only this Academy, EVERY one should do it. Chief himself said "Fat cops do not leave this academy!" and I wish more Chiefs shared his ideals about physical standards for Police.

I see them all over though, there really should be stricter standards because lets face it, image is very important. Communities judge departments by thier officers, and if you have a sloppy looking officer, well, that dosent leave a good impression. PLUS not to mention the fact his/her abilities to serve are severely diminished by being not pyshically able to carry out your duties.

That will never be a concern with ME, you can bet on that!

But Chief said they would only pick the top scores from the P/T test if they had an unusually sized class. My scores were:

Pushups: 47 in 1 min
Situps: 50 in 1 min
Vert. Jump: 16 inches
Agility: ?? dont know, they dident tell us, just said pass/fail and I passed
1.5 mile: 10 min.

And I did this being sick with the Flu and bedridden 2 days prior.
