    The World Record Is BROKEN

    My chemesty teacher has a cousin who was hunding for deer. this bear approached him and attacked. he killed the bear in self defence and earned a place in guniess. here's the text my techer sent me:

    " The attached pictures are of a guy who works for the forest service in Alaska. He was out deer hunting. A large (large?)Grizzly charged him from about 50 yards away. The guy unloaded a 7mm Mag Semi-auto into the bear and it dropped a few feet from him. The thing was still alive so he reloaded and capped it in the head. It was over one thousand six hundred pounds, 12'6" high at the shoulder. It's a world record. The bear had killed a couple of other people. Of course, the game department did not let him keep it. Think about it. This thing on it's hind legs could walk up to the average single story house and look on the roof at eye level."

        By the time e-mail stories started reaching the Daily News in late November, the bear towered 12 feet, 6 inches tall and weighed more than 1,600 pounds. Another writer said the ferocious bear had charged the unsuspecting deer hunter, who emptied his gun, but shot the bear dead in the nick of time with his last shell.

        Though this was indeed a big bear, those numbers and that sequence of events aren't right.
        this has been around for a while now

        still an impressive creature

        //edit
        btw, the second photo is deceiving. since the bear's head is much closer to the camera than the hunt, it appears much larger than it truly is

        that being said, i still wouldn't like to get chased down by that thing

              while its sad that such an amazing animal had to be killed, it is amazing and it was in self defence so...

                      read the link fellows

                      the hunter's own account is that they were hunting dear in alaska, then saw the bear at a distance and proceeded to hunt/stalk it.

                        Do photographs show an enormous bear killed by an Alaskan hunter?

                              By the hunter's own account he was carrying,
                              a .338 Win. Mag., and stalking that particular bear.
                              This is not a case of self defense, but a case of
                              good hunting skill's. Read the link guy's.
