Hey Army or other Military member I need Some advice

Hey this question is for Army or anyone else with military expirence, good or bad. ok here it is....
I am in 11th grade and am 17, I am enrolled in AFJROTC at my highschool and currently am a C\1st Lt. Since before I can remember I have always wanted to do miliatry service... However about 10 monthes ago I started going out with this girl( I know this isnt exactly on track but it gives backround) and I am not sure if satill want to because I love being with her. Anyswase it seems like for the past about 9 monthes i lost interest in joining up. But i took the ASVAB to see what could do andf I ended up getting a 99 on it which i was really superised about. I was estaitc (sp?) anywase i have been looking at the ARMY and the Air Force. I think if i go Army I will go from boot to Warrant Officer Flight Training, or Air FOrce I will go into being a Crew Chief. k anywase here is the qquestion. How do I make a decison if i want to do this. I think I do but my parents arent to hot about it. They dont belive I can get an education in the Military. SO what do you think you got any advice??? PLease have some advice. Anyone please tell me what you think.

Why not go to college first? Then you can join as an officer and skip all the enlisted stuff.

You have a lot of options while in college. All the ROTCs, the Marine's PLC, etc.

"I think I do but my parents arent to hot about it."

why? are they one of the parents who think things like "o no we lost another great mind to the military"? your parents should feal honored that you choose to serve your country... plus you can go to college before and be an officer or let the military pay for your college! and like irbodden said dont make any life choices on the account of a h/s gf

                  High School Girl Friend

I met a girl clubbing. Sounds crazy I know, but we ended up together, and I found out that she was a VERY CLASSY girl, and not a typical "club slut". I met her at the end of my senior year. I felt stupid for really loving her. I loved her so much and I decided to not enlist. We are now engaged and will be married in 2004, and my life is wonderful. If you really love her, make sure that you ask her about what she feels, and do what's fair to her. Respect her, but make sure that you still only live for yourself. Good luck in your decision.

Well Ive never been in the military.....but as someone said before....dont base your future life decisions on a girl you are dating in high school.

Also if you got a 99 on the ASVAB you are too smart for the military.

From your current position in AFJROTC, you can transition into College ROTC easily. That will get you an education, and a good shot at a commission too. This is a full commitment though, as the branch you choose will want their pound of flesh after you graduate, since they paid for it:)

Whatever your girlie friend believes, her thoughts should not concern you with your future. Only you can destine what will come.

Go back to the recruiter, get whatever he says IN WRITING, AND SIGNED BY HIM/HER. A signed piece of paper is a binding contract, even in the military, and what ever course is laid out on it, will be your career....choose wisely now. Start RIGHT NOW getting into shape: do 50 push-ups and 50 sit-ups daily, and run like the wind for 4 miles 3 times a week. These exercises are what the Army Physical Fitness test is based on: As many push/sit-ups as possible in 2 minutes, and run 2 miles under 12 minutes (the run time varies, but under 12 is a good score).

With a 99 ASVAB, your aircraft career fields are, unfortunately, limited:

93P--Aviation Operations Specialist ST=95(ground operations). You needed a MM (mechanical maintenance) score of at least 100 just to work on helicopters, you're not close enough to even crew on them.

HOWEVER!!! You can take the ASVAB over again, until you better your average score. Read up on how machines work, pour over electrical theory, get your math skills up, and study hard on use of proper English. If you can get a score of at least 115 (I think... might be 120), you will qualify for any MOS available, and be eligible for OCS/Warrant school in the Army and Air Force. But, you can't be an Officer/Warrant without a college degree (any degree will do though).

Do what you see in your future. Most parents can be intimidated by the military, especially nowadays, so your Mom & Dads' concern is understandable. Just remember it's your life, you will have to live it. It is an honorable thing to do, to join the Armed Forces. It is doing for your country, rather than taking from it.

                          Hooah in your choice. Dave

I may be mistaken, but isn't the ASVAB a percentile rank with 99 being the highest possible? There ARE about a dozen or so various scores which you can achieve 100+ on, but the overall score is a comparasin between you and everyone else who has taken the test.
