When you figure it looking at that car its a cinch to be totaled. Blue Book is like 6,500 on it. Air bags are going to be 2000 right there. Only need 2/3 of value damage to total. And the whole front end suspension and every quarter panel, hood and uniframe, under frame carriers even the drivers door and side panel is outa wack. The radiator, AC Condenser and every light up front is gone. Airbox and battery box damaged. Much more under there I cannot tell though. The engine may be slightly at an angle and the right CV joint is dangling so who knows about the tranny. got to be WAY more than 2200 more damage than just the air bag replacement. Probably CANNOT be made right.

As everyone said just be glad he's ok. A close friend of mine a couple years ago got in a wreck and was killed. He was driving a Nissan pathfinder around a turn a little faster than he should have, and apparently hit some sand or something that started him to roll. The roof caved in hittin him in the head and killed him.

And as far as cops go, they do seem to be a lot tougher around here than most other places I've been. I have never had any tickets before I came to school at Clemson, and so far I have gotten 2 tickets driving back up here from home. One of them he didnt even get me with radar, so he just gave me "too fast for conditions" anyways.

LOL! The fun never ends! Someone hit this new car in the school parking lot today!!!! Not realy any damage but...

Yea its a little touch up paint and buff out some of the other cars paint off the red tail lense. No real damage but I got called over about an accident report. And the kid that hit it was honest and went into the school and reported it to the resource officer who called me before calling the Highway patrol. So I said let me take a look and let me talk to the parent and went over there. The kids father was there when I got there and we had a look and it was realy minor but just to be sure I called my father in law who owns a body shop to come over and tell us what it would take. So he comes out and he agreed a little buff out and touch up was all we needed.

I realy did not want to have to have an accident report for the kid and his father to deal with especially since he was so honest and all. And since I had a touch up paint bottle fresh that I had bought and Father in law said "heck he was honest I do the buffing and rub out for nothing!" So we all shook hands and let it go. I thanked the kid for his honesty and Caleb came near the end and that was the first thing Caleb did too! He up and did the same. You would think he would have been more upset at the kid but he realised the issue was that the Kid was honest about it. The father kept trying to hand me money for the touch up paint. I refused.

              Ahhh well....

Nice to know we got some honest kids these days. And parents willing to own up to the problem. I am certain he appreciated the favor I did him.

Good to know your son's ok, but man, that really stinks.
I like the new car though, but if this happens again make him pay for the new one

Nice car you got there for him. I can tell you from my sister's experience of how she ruined her new car quick, but it was because of her own fault. She had just gotten a new 2001 Honda Civic after totaling her old 1993 Honda Accord. She ended up getting in two accidents within 3 months of having it. One involved her hitting a parked car, didn't damage the parked car but it tore through her front bumper (left a stab hole and left the bumper dented). Well she ended up getting in another accident with crossing over a median (person waved her through, but person was coming up turn median in middle and hit her). Didn't total her car, but it left the entire left side looking like a crane hit it. And this was with a new car, so needless to say my parents were pretty upset, as this was the third major traffic accident, and luckily the lady was nice enough to not report it onto insurance and accepted cash (a lot) as my sister would've been booted as she's had numerous traffic incidents. So you can just guess what kind of driver she is, heh. And needless to say my parents have told her there not spending any more at all on her with cars or anything, as you can easily guess why.

Not a problem because if the first incident were to happen again...there will be no new car!
