You guys are saying that the Dual G4's will beat any PC system? What about dual P-4's? what are they up to now? 2.8, 3.2 Ghz? I think Mac's will have a tough time with them... Even AMD's Throughbred XP's are coming up on the 2800-3000+ systems (yes I know their clock speed is lower, but still... the XP's use the same argument Macs have been for years... clock speed isn't everything...)

I got out of computers after I built mine last year, so I don't really know what I'm talking about...

Macs can't hold a candle to PCs when it comes to the number of games available.

However... they are very good computers. When it comes to doing actual "work," it is my favorite platform. RISC architecture blows away x86, it's extremely streamlined. However, because x86 has some really high clock speeds... it closes the gap.

I would not have considered buying a Mac until OS X came out - they were too expensive and Mac software alone would not suit my needs. Now that it's BSD with a Mac GUI (which I like better than KDE/Gnome)... for me this is perfect because I primarily work with UNIX... and all the regular stuff I do - like surfing the net or whatever... is good to go. And... VirtualPC will be sufficient for what I would use a Laptop for - I plan on getting a PowerBook once I can afford one.

Of course, I will always have several PCs... gotta have my gaming rigs. :)

It's very difficult to say that one computer is better than another. It's like comparing a hammer to a screwdriver... each is suitable for specific tasks and it is hard to properly compare them when they are fundamentally different. I personally don't have an overall preference... I use whatever is most convenient for a particular task.
