He goes next door and learns the number of the house.

Now if the number of the house equals the sum of the three ages, then the riddle is solved. however, if house number equals the sum of multiple age combos, then he needs another hint. Too many unknowns, not enough equations.

If you add up all the unique age combination which have the product of 36 (see previous post), you will notice some thing interesting...

1 + 1 + 36 = 38
1 + 2 + 18 = 21
1 + 3 + 12 = 16
1 + 4 + 9 = 14
1 + 6 + 6 = 13
2 + 2 + 9 = 13
2 + 3 + 6 = 11
3 + 3 + 4 = 10

Notice how the only non-unique combo is 1,6,6 and 2,2,9 which add up to 13?

Since he requires another hint, we know that the house number must be 13.

Now which one is it? 1,6,6 or 2,2,9 ?
