    Stealing(off kazaa)

What do you think about stealing off kazaa.

Has anyone accually been fined or jailed because of kazaa? I have never had a clear yes or no to that answer.

No 'home' user has ever been jailed because of file sharing programs as of yet.

I think the average user, downloads music to listen for their own personal use, not to make CD's and sell them.

I personally don't see anything wrong with that. I have yet to find a good reason to pay 20 bucks for a CD, that I only want one song off of.

Think about it. Who is loosing money? People like Eminem and Brittney Spears. O no I dont think ill be able to sleep tonight because I contributed to Pop/Rap stars only making 50 million a year as opposed to 80 million. (i made those numbers up )

BTW Hoppys is right its never going to go away

I don't know why they make such a big deal. I for one only download every once in awhile (not from KaZaA). I've actually purchased more CD's since I started doing so. The bands that got 1 more CD sale because of file sharing: Trust Company, LOSTPROPHETS, MuDvAyNe, and Ill Nino. The record industry sould use this (KaZaA and other p2p's) to their advantage.

I use kazaa for personal use only. In fact im listening to a song right now that i got from there. I dont see anything wrong with dling songs from kazaa. I do not want to pay like 15 dollars to get one song off of a cd. I really dont think anyone is gonna get busted for using kazaa at home because there are just way to many of us out there.

Usually downloading music off of Kazaa leads to me finding new music that I like and then me buying the CD's of that group.

Only when I either A. can't go to the store at the time and buy it. or B. heard the song and want to know if I will like the band or if they will be a one hit wonder. Also, Kazaa made me a firm beliver in Mudvayne, Tool, and Ill Nino. I got one of each of those then went out and bought all there cds.

lol I was kinda confused about your poll, the question was "is it good or bad?" and the choices were like "yes" or "no"...

But I download stuff semi-regularly, I'd say I have about 60 songs, which is pretty good considering I have 56k *sigh*. Never sold anything though (could I blame THAT on no cd burner??), and I doubt I ever would, THAT just seems wrong.

And I agree, it's not gonna be goin away any time soon...remember how as SOON as napster got busted, morpheus popped up and got popular? and when morpheus "upgraded" and got crappy, along came KaZaA?? p2p is here to stay. Get used to it.

The record companies are idiots. 1st of all it IS NOT illegal to share music. They spend about $.10 to make a CD and sell it for $20, a percentage of that goes to the artist and they get the rest. Now they think they are going out of buisness. I've bought over $200 worth of CDs to contribute to the record companies and now seeign them complain because their earnings aren't as high anymore makes me SICK. Their prices were too high in the first place, what were they thinking? For $20 I can buy a DVD or VHS for god sake, why would I buy one of their discs that I'll probably listen to for 10 minutes and just toss it into the collection? I have kazza, high speed internet, and a good quality burner. Do I burn CDs? NO, I've made one lousy disc from having downloaded shared files for 3 years. What are they scared of? If they all go out of buisness(which they obviously will not though they claim) then I'll be happy. New companies with more sense and less corruption will come forth. Then they will finally realize that people will not pay as much for a CD for as much they can buy a DVD for. They sell both so why don't they figure it out? BECAUSE THEY ARE DIRTY GREEDY MONEY SUCKERS

Really depends on how you use it. I use it exclusively to grab Fansubs of stuff that's not released on Region 1 DVD's, since most of my favourite studio's work never makes it over here. If it's available, I bi\uy it instead (Although, what's up with Inu Yasha? 3 eps per DVD on a 100+ episode series? At $45CDN per DVD??)

It's iffy on music, I've used it, but I also buy teh CD's afterwards. Really, I use it like radio.

                            for straight stealing, no, don't.

It is not stealing. Kazaa and all the other programs also describe it as a way for people to share programs. Would it be considered stealing if you shared a CD with your little sister? Would the record company come after you?
