    I don't use Kazaa for 3 reasons:
    1. Stupid people who decide to put virus' into programs and make mp3's that spawn pop-ups.
    2. It doesn't work on campus
    3. I can get better rips and less viri from mIrc.
Once you have shot and eliminated someone, you have established your position towards them. In a sense, the next move is up to them...

I have around 1300+ mp3s right now.....with 56k. Getting DSL next week, I'm probably going to have five or six times that pretty soon. I have no problem with it. I don't buy many cds, I'm a broke man. I hope to buy a 20gb mp3 player so I have no need for them.

Even if somebody tells me its wrong, I would still do it. Why? Because I'm a poor music lover.

Since Napster and Kazaa I don't buy anymore CD's. The only time I'll buy a CD is if it's some really obscure CD that is not on Kazaa. I have gigs and gigs worth of music, I can't even begin to count all the songs I have.

They can stop it publically and will. They already have in most instances its just that they'll never be able to completely stop the pirating. Never have been able to, never will be able to.

...you just need to know the right places to go to get these things, even though its illegal.

It is not stealing. Kazaa and all the other programs also describe it as a way for people to share programs. Would it be considered stealing if you shared a CD with your little sister? Would the record company come after you?
Its making multiple copies and mass distributing them, so it is stealing and *it is illegal*. Think what you want, you obviously know nothing about the music industry or this sort of thing based upon the statements/opinions you've given.

I use kazaa ocasionally. I'll use mIrc if I really need something.. The only CDs that I buy are CDs that I can't find full decent copies of. I got to RPI(a nerd school), and pretty much everything you want is on the network. We have a few search engines that keep databases of what everyone is sharing. It's unbelievable what you could find on the network. Movies, software, music, and HW solutions (yay!!). You name it, we've probably got it. I figure, since I'm not selling the stuff I get, I'm doing no harm. Most of the time I end up going to concerts of the bands instead of buying their cd. I figure they make more money like that anyway.

                      From the Article
That's not bad money, but it's split four ways, or $40,477.25 each, about the same as a city sanitation worker with two years' experience, without health benefits, vacation and retirement fund. But with, of course, groupies.
They say that is the same amount as a city sanitation worker with 2 years experience. I don't know much about sanitation worker's salarys, but I'm sure they don't get 40 thousand dollar checks at one time.

I was a Napster fan from the begining and switched to other P2P programs when it died off. As far as it being stealing, there is no question that it is illegal. The only thing you can legally do with it is make a copy for personal use, that means the original owner only.

Now, as for money, bands rarely see much revunue from record sales, the exception being very large and popular bands such as U2, Aerosmith, and Metallica, hence Metallica making such a fuss over Napster. But then look at Limp Bizkit, supporting Napster, because they represented the largest portion of the recording industry. Bands get a check upfront and then seldom see any more money.

But there is no question that bands get more exposure as a result of P2P sharing programs.

The record industry had a chance to embrace technology, but instead decided to try and keep their hold on everything. CD sales are certainly the 'Golden Calf' of the industry, so they are reluctant to give it up, but many people, myself included, have some problems paying 15-20 dollars for something that should be at most 8-10 dollars. Add that to the price fixing by some of the major players and you have a recipe for disaster.

I can't bring myself to feel sorry for the industry. They have bilked us for billions of dollars for a long time. Payback is as they say a bi**h.
That which does not kill us, cripples us for life.

I do not use KaZaa at all.

But as for Inuyasha, I started out not liking the series, but it has gotten progressively better, especially after they introduced the "wind tunnel" character.

Mykroft, do you get Cartoon Network? They aire Inuyasha on Adult Swim.

Also, check out alt.binaries.anime - People post Inuyasha episodes regularly, and will respond well to requests.

Okay not to flame but lets use our brain power here.

Putting together an album takes time, it very well may have taken a year to compile the record or by the time the money gets back to them a year might have passed.

They call them starving artists for a reason...

Don't let the superbands and such fool you, they're a very small percent. Its just like the rich and powerful in normal american society, that 1-3% of people may hold 50% of all money available but it doesn't mean everyone else is rich.
