    Joke I recieved over Email

You may have heard that the Canadian government has decided to assist
the USA in the war against terrorism. They have agreed to send:

    6000 ground troops
2 of their largest battle ships
    6 fighter jets.

After the exchange rate, the USA will receive:

    2 Mounties
    1 canoe
    a bunch of flying squirrels
    Sorry, I'm old

That's too funny! Oddly enough, for some strange reason, Canada produces the best snipers in the world. A Canadian sniper recently recorded the longest range kill--a mile and a half--which took out a high ranking Taliban officer in Afghanistan.

It's true--not a joke. Look it up. This sniper broke GYSgt Carlos (White Feather) Hathcock's Vietnam record--not by a whole lot though.

there in lies the problem, hathcock did it wil a jerry rigged 50 cal machine gun and a vietnam era scope, the canuck probibly had a barret rifle.

dont judge some one "the best" by one man and his range... i bet that guy couldnt have crawled for 3 days to move one hundred yards while NVC patrols practicly stepped on him , take one shot, kill his target and escape to continue fighting, including the infamous through the scope shot.

if anyone produces the best snipers it ether the UK or US.

EDIT: just did a search and the canadians shot was 2430
hathcocks was at 2500 i think.not sure though

ya, but there are also other great snipers, the russian hope, the man with the plan, the hero of stalingrad, Vasily Zaitsev ! probibly the greatest single sniper ( as far as i know)

zaitsevs enemy Heinz Thorwald. ( german sniper sent to kill him but was shot and killed by zaitsev)

That was in a movie right? Something like "Enemy at the Gate" or something like that. If so that was a spectacular movie.

In pure skill level, I think that Hathcock was WAY above Zietsev... plus everyone has seen the movie about Zietzsev, so they are all experts on him

I reccomend reading a book called "Marine Sniper." Its about the life of Carlos Hathcock, and it really is an eye opener of how they lived and worked. I'll try to find the book again and get the author.

Can't afford missiles or bombs any more...
