What kind of cool computer programs do you use?

There are a lot of people on AO with great computer skills. I was just wondering what kind of "neat" programs everybody uses. Programs like Photoshop and Autocad and stuff like that.

Anyone else ever program in COBOL?

i use Maple 6... its like a 700 dollar math program that basically does any algebraic problem you can think of, plus a little trig and geometry (3d graphing/plotting). Also calculates pi to 100000 decimal places b4 my laptop crashes

eh, I use mostly 3D StudioMax and Powerpoint. I am getting my PP level 1 certification pretty soon so I'll be able to put that on my resume.

These are programming languages. GCC and emacs are found in the Linux world and COBOL is found in mainframes. COBOL stands for COmon Business Oriented Language. The first programming language I ever coded in was Pascal. That was in high school.

gcc is the Gnu C Compiler. It's one tool you can use to compile C code into a program.

emacs is a text editor found on unix boxen. (real men/women use vi )

perl is fun, great way to play with regular expressions (regex). Tho it helps to have a task that requires text processing, so you have something to do with it.

Photoshop, Illustrator are great fun as well.
