In case you didn't know RATM is big into politics. I think they don't really like the U.S. government, saying it is corrupt. I agreed up until Bush was elected, but I think they haven broken up before the election.

Evil Empire was from way back in 1996. Yes that is right, a whole FIVE years ago. If you are somehow trying to say something about the american flag reference, don't. You only make yourself sound ignorant by coming out with an attitude against anything that disagrees with conformity. Dont get me wrong, now is the time for this country to stand united and patriotism is very strong at this moment. However, this sticker is five years old and has nothing to do with any of the events that happened this year. Rage Against the Machine is a very politically oriented band and I support their opinions because they are unique. I may not aggree with some of their statements, however I do stand with them because they voice their opinions and don't fall in with the masses.

Maxd Out you support them only because they dont fall in line with others?

I assume the American Nazi Party, the Klan, and GreenPeace will be receiving checks from you soon?

RATM was anti-capitalist and by all accounts socialists.

I liked thier music and admired them sticking to thier ideals - even if they weren't in line with mine.

The reason for "evil empire" is due to thier views that capitalism creates a system where the rich control the poor and peoples rights are therefore violated... This similar sentiment is why you have riots at ever WTO meeting.

Socialism is a neat idea that sounds great ideally - but will never work. There are some countries who use a limited form a socialism - but they arent the utopia that was originally hoped for....

On a similar note - there was a rap/hip-hop album due out near Sept. 11th that had a large anti-capitalist slant to it. Infact the cover was to feature a guy with a detonating device and the twin towers exploding. Well - they of course pulled that idea after Sept. 11.

But why? If you are SOOO anti-capitialist - and you SOOO want to destroy "da man" and kill the greedy rich people - why would you not cheer and dance after sept 11th? I mean a whole building full of rich lawyers and bankers! I mean with songs like "Kill the Landlord" - you would think this group would have a big ol' party when such monuments to capitalism come crashing down....

the fact is because they were posers - just trying to play to the frustrated teen who doesnt have financial independence so that THEY could make a quick buck using the evil system of capitalism...

Ok - so that was offtrack -but its one of those things that got me going...

The only thing I will say about that, is that some people need to stop reading the propaganda put out by Greenpeace, and learn what and who they really are... heck many of their low level members are also clueless.

Does the Green Party ring a bell?

Research, research, research..... I think you will be unpleasantly surprised.

Actually Web, The group in question did not want to change that album cover. It was their recording label that pulled the cover.

                            i shoulda said nothin...

heh thx shartley...im aware of some of greenpeaces...ahhh shall we say, less than friendly actions/intentions(most of which I have no actual evidence of, but still can't discount, although i STRONGLY object to many of their more forceful actions), still chuckle when i think of what the french have done to em(cept 73)......but I still feel lumping them in with the klan and nazi party is a little harsh...well maybe not for some. but certainly as my beliefs go.

but yeah...as RATM goes...like i said. dramatic yes. wrong? maybe. good tunes? i think so. go lookup 'punk rock lyrics' on google and see how much of that music offends...

and PS - I LOVE KMFDM... glad they are finally back and "doin it again"
