Interesting how much political statements that cphillip lets go that are not about reporting. It all depends on if he agrees with the political statements.

I had not heard that the POWs were killed (as suggested by previous posts). I read the paper this morning and saw nothing of it in the paper. I hope that this is not true. The casulties upset me but we could not expect to escape unscathed. The only proper tribute to our casulties is to win the war as quickly as possible (with minimal risk to our own troops as possible) so their sacrifice would not be in vain.

It makes me sad that a life was lost in a war which I don't agree with. But yet the soldier still did what he felt was right. It is a rather powerful yet tearful picture.

Cruise missiles found in hidden bunker
British troops outside Basra have discovered cruise missiles and warheads hidden inside fortified bunkers as part of a massive arsenal abandoned by Saddam Hussein's disintegrating southern army.

Cases of rockets, giant anti-shipping mines and other ammunition are piled from floor to ceiling in dozens of bunkers at what is marked on maps as the Az Zubaya Heliport.

The most disturbing find was two Russian-made Al-Harith anti-shipping cruise missiles, each 6m long and 1m in diameter, and nine warheads, hidden in two enormous reinforced concrete bunkers.

Another missile, as yet unidentified, was found still crated up at the rear of one of the bunkers.

Some of the boxes are clearly marked with the names of British manufacturers.

you have to scroll roughly half the page to find the story.

seems Russia isnt the only country reaping the rewards of capitalism.

                  about the above picture...

it makes me feel may things....

It saddens me because an American died, an American who was serving his country, my county..

It makes me proud, proud to know that people are willing to give their life, so I can live in FREEDOM, so I can say what I want, and live my life in America.

It makes me happy, happy to be FREE, and not have to worry about being killed because I don't see things the way our Leaders does.

This war is about protecting MY Freedom, YOUR freedom, the American Way..... just because we are not fighting on the Coast of America doesn't mean that it's not about protecting America.. because we you boil down to the truth... that is what it comes down to....

there are many "side" reasons for this war, the second, and most important in to give the Iraq "PEOPLE" freedom, from a crual, killer.

I am PROUD to be an American, and I am NOT ashamed to say it.

that is on the POWs and the Dead Americans.... "shot in the forhead" means, they were POWs at one point... there is something on it...

here's the quote from cnn next to that picture.

Soldiers of 1st Brigade, 101st Airborne Division, mourn the loss of Capt. Christopher Scott Seifert at a memorial ceremony at Camp Pennsylvania in Kuwait. Seifert, 27, was killed when a grenade was thrown into a sleep tent March 23. Fifteen other soldiers also were wounded. A U.S. soldier is being questioned in connection with the attack.

                    Thats the really sad part.

Actually you would also have to wonder how they obtained them and perhaps through a secondary source too. It should be easy to figure out and I suspect they indeed will. Alos remember anything from around 80 and before was when the US and Iraq were allies and not under Saddam. Carter and Reagan both sold Arms to Iraq back in them days. And later under sanctions and cease fire agreement of 91 things like that were supposed to be surrended and destroyed and we were assured that they were. So someone is lying? But then you kinda left out the fact that they are banned weapons and subject to UN Sanctions and should have been declared to UN Weapons inspectors. And so it seems if this is substantiated you have your first evidence of banned weapons that was lied about by Iraq.

Also note the number of Chemical Protection Suits found has grown to 3000 now.

                            From FOXnews:

Reuters reported a dozen blasts were heard to the south and southeast of the city, where Saddam Hussein's elite Republican Guard troops are believed to be deployed.

British troops were attacking by ground and air a paramilitary column that pulled out of Basra -- Iraq's second largest city -- and was heading south. The column contains about 120 armored personnel carriers and tanks.

British forces were encouraged by the development, since it brings the Iraqi fighters out into the open and gives coalition aircraft a clear shot at them.

                                Cphilip,

they were British cruise missiles, not US. and correct me if im wrong but cruise missiles werent around in "them" days of Carter and Reagan.

I quoted what was relevant to my comments, i didnt leave anything out. furthermore i linked the article for anyone to read. i thought it was fairly obvious it was a violation of their UN agreements and so didnt think pointing it out was necassary. Also werent the SCUDs the first weapons that they found that violated the orginial UN bans?

Im sure they will find it came through a secondary source (If that find gets any coverage at all), im also sure they will find the Russian stuff came directly from the Russians, which will be covered extremely well, funny how that works, huh? its gets even more strange when you consider that the stuff that supposedly came from the Russians was night vision and satellite blocking equipment, and the stuff that supposedly came from the British was cruise missiles, but which one do you think everyones going to hear about?
