Kompressor isn't a type of car. I'm gessing you mean an SL-500 or other SL series roadster type POS mercedes. That's a joke. Calling a mercedes a POS is silly.

Living in Redding, i'm surrounded by wealthy people. Honestly, its insane. The realestate around here is mind boggling.

One of my good friends, his dad has a ZO6 vette, a 76 350 vette, has a Ford GT on order, along with a viper, he owns two Exterras, one is supercharged and the other is not.

The non blower exterra is my friends. His dad is buying him a 79 camaro or a 65 1/2 mustang.

He had $400 in his wallet yesterday cuz his dad wanted him to buy a pair of sunglasses. He spent $100 on the sunglasses. He gets a new phone once a month.

When he tells me this stuff, i don't say "WOW your life will be worthless without your father! You need to bust your *** as a teenager to learn how to live in the REAL WORLD! BECAUSE RICH SUCCESSFUL PEOPLE WITH RICH FOUNDATIONS DO NOT EXIST! ITS A MYTH!!!!!!!!!!" I say things like "holy crap that's awesome gimme some money" and to which he replies "no."

Honestly, being rich rocks, don't kid yourself. Working hard for your money is very self dignifying.

My dad is a carpenter. He works DAMN hard for his money. Often he'll work 7 days a week, 16 hours a day.

You know what? My dad's got a 26 foot Formula boat. He's got a real nice 2003 F-350, and a 2000 expy. He's not poor by any means. Guy knows how to have fun.

My mother lives in redding. I'm not going into the story of my mother. If i chose to live at her house, i would could take the bus to school and wouldn't have to insure the truck or fill it with gas. Granted i would have no job and no money to buy lunch, and there aint crap to bring from the house. Now i chose to live at my dad's and work my *** off to be able to. My dad does not give me lunch money because i do not ask. If i asked, he would. The reason i don't ask isn't because i have too much pride, or because i can easily pay for it myself, god knows i can't. I don't ask because with all the things my father has done for me i owe him an eternal debt.

Basically what i'm trying to say is that money is the devil, and if we could all go back to trading raisins for shiny rocks i would be much better off.

My truck is louder than yours. A lot louder.

If money is the devil, than I have 3.8 million little satins in my trust fund.
I drive a 1998 toyota supra with a west wings body kit that my parents got for me for christmas this past year. My dad drives a 2001 Mercedes SL-500, and my mom drives a 2001 volvo v70.
I live in a beatuiful house in the Main Line area of pennsylvania, and I attend one of the highest accedemic ranked high schools in the country. I have a beach house in bethany beach delaware and it is amazing.
But dont get me wrong, if I want something, I have to WORK for it, and pay for it with MY OWN money. I have to save in my bank account for college. I dont just go up to my parents and ask them for money to buy things I want. I did that once, and my dad laughed in my face. I beleve that people who do that and get away with it are beyond spoiled.
I dont complain about what I have, becuase I know I am DAMN lucky. My mom & dad work their rear-ends off 5 days a week just so they can put food on the table, and provide me with nice things, and I am extremeley grateful twards BOTH parents for what they do for me.

I read quite a few comments and really wanted to comment on them, but i figured i'd just give my opinion rather than try and repost them all.

First of all, why are people so envious over money? Sure it is nice to have, it does make things a little easier if you're smart with it. Ever hear the expression "Money is the root of all evil"? I always think about it when i hear this topic come up. Having alot of money just creates more problems then it's worth. People with that kind of money don't know how to not be greedy.

I also believe that people that express how great it is to work for what you've earned and not have it handed to you, are all the more jealous of the people that had it handed to them.

A few people brought up parents spoiling their kids rotten or "if you had money, wouldn't you give yoru kids everything?". If/when i ever have kids, they will earn everything that they deserve. Whether i have a lot of money to give them or not, they will not be spoiled in any type of way. Parents that spoil their kids rotten are more useless than the kids they spoil. More than likely, they don't know what a hard days work is themselves. I'm not saying that poor people can't work hard to have money. However, those people will more often than not spoil their kids to become those snotty people that think they're better than everybody else simply because they were handed a whole lot of money.

"I hate rich kids". Why? They're going to be miserable thier whole lives. Sure they'll have nice things, but so what? Whenever mommy and daddy buy them something, they're going to be tired of it in a few weeks and be whining for something new until they get it? Is that what you want? You want to cry like a little girl to get your way as an adult? Give me a break.

My last point is more of a question. Why do people always need money to be happy? Are things going to make you enjoy life so much? Is a nice car going to really make things so much better. People base to much on the amount of money they have. I think it's pretty sad. I probably won't have to much money in my life. Rather be poor than someone worth a few million dollars who doesn't deserve to clean my bathroom.

The quote isn't exactly right - "The love of money is the root of all evil."

But, you hit the sentiment of the statement right on the head. The love of money is greed. It corrupts and consumes if that is all you think about.

I have a few rich friends but I wouldn't say that they're at all lazy and just getting anything they want from their parents. They both have to work for what they get and by no means take all that money their parents make for granted. Still I don't think people should complain about the rich kids out there. Like it's already been said, most of their parents work extremely hard to get where they get. Hey, I'm not complaining that's for sure and definately won't be complaining when my friend john's dad lets me drive their new 2003 BMW M3 with paddle shifters.

I just know that I feel more proud of myself when I show up to the field with all my gear that I paid for my self or to car meets with my car that I work my butt off for than the kids there that have everything that their parents paid for.

My high school student parking lot was hilarious.

C5 vettes, Mercedes, Porsche, BMW, and every SUV you could imagine. Most people EXPECTED a car on their 16th birthday, not just a hand-me down or a beater, but the brand new luxury car.

One kid had a Boxster with gold accenting and his name on the door.

Anyway...

Once I graduate I just want to live comfortably. I'm going to work long enough to pay off my student loans and save up enough cash to go back to school. Not to grad school, but to tech school. I want to learn to machine and draw pretty CAD pictures.

It's part of my grand scheme. If it doesn't work out, that's okay. But wouldn't it be cool to have an empire?

Rich people can be funny, if any rich snob gives you crap just be like "Dude, your goldfish stinks too, even if its in a gold toliet."

But yeah, I live in a pretty wealthy (lotta upper middle class familys) and my parents earn a good living, but they went from barely making it in an old military barracks to where they are now. Nothing was handed to them, hense they don't really act like wealthy people.

Why are you going to bother even getting a job, 3.8 million is enough to let you live comfortably for the rest of your life, and probably still have tons left over... Looks to me that you future is secure no matter what happens, which is what I envy, I don't like worrying that after high school, I might be homeless and I dont know where I'm going to go or if I'm going to have anything.

well money is a broad term.

He could have 3.8 million millionths of a penny in his bank account.

And whoever said satan was the root of all evil? People, there is an axis out there, and it is being evil. It's on tv.
