    car stereo help

Ok. I bought a new truck and now i need help getting my system back into my ride. I ripped all the old stuff out and i am now puting in an eq. I'm running into a few problems. Everything i'm doing is pretty much what i'm learning now. I'm figuring it out, but i figured i'd ask someone and i know some of you know what you're doing. I tried looking for some other forums for this sort of thing, but i know i can find help here.

The EQ problem is the RCA's. The deck had 2 sets of output rca's. One for the front speakers, and the other for the rear/sub. Do i have to connect those together and run them both into the one set of input RCA's that are on the EQ? The EQ has 3 more sets of RCA's, rear speaker, front speakers, and subs. Now i run the rear and front rca's from the eq to the 4 channel amp i'm running for my high's, yes? Then i just need to connect each speaker to the amp?

Another problem with the eq is it has 3 wires. A black, yellow, and blue wire are all connected onto a plug. I'm guessing that yellow is the positive lead, the black is the ground, and the blue is the remote. Where do i connect each from. The ground i understand just any metal on the truck. The remote i have to connect from the deck and then out to the amps. Do i have to split the power wire to each the deck and EQ? How do i do that without causing a fire?

I think that's about it for now. I'm ripping out the deck tomorrow and rewiring the harness. I have to look for all sorts of connectors because i don't want this rigged. Hopefully you'll be able to answer these for me.

To the EQ: As long as the rear/sub rca's on your deck are the full sound spectrum and not crossed over or something I'd just use those. Ignore the Front for now.

From the EQ - I guess I'm not seeing the fire problem with tapping into the power line or remote line. You could get a small gauge power distribution block if you'd feel more comfortable I guess. Let me think on it a bit.

I wouldn't think an EQ would draw much current... I still would dedicate a wire to it though, and not tap into anything else.

My truck is louder than yours. A lot louder.

so i should get another distribution block just for the EQ?
Turns out i need to get lots of other things to finish this job up. I bought a circuit breaker and went to go mess with the switch and it broke. It was made of wood. Who makes things out of wood like that. I was pissed. I'll have to go out and get a new one. I put in the deck without any problems. I also got RCA connectors that took the 2 sets and converted them to one. I have to connect the 2 left and the 2 right channels right? Also what about the ground wire from the EQ? Just any metal to the truck?

You don't HAVE to get a distribution block. I just generally use them because I always seem to have a few laying around. Besides, like rhetor22 said, you're not going to be drawing much current. I use em, but I'm wiring up capacitors, crossovers and multiple amps.

            Your RCA plan looks fine.
