While my experience with both of them has been pretty good, I have seen exemplary examples of their work (as in
that is beyond words), and I have seen ew.. as in... why did they ship that out...
Punisher did a lot of work to my current Phantom, which is totally awesome, I'm never gonna part with it. The Doc's P-stock I run on it is also great, but the finish is... a little lacking in a couple areas.
While both of them have had communication problems in the past, most stuff about them is grossly exaggerated. While I'm not sure if I'll ever send anything to Doc for custom work, the main reason for that is that he's located in Alaska... Punisher will definitely be getting more work from me in the future.
To add to the topic, I'd urge everyone to check out Ken's work (K&P Customs). Some of that is the most innovative I've seen, and he does it part time on a mill in his garage, whereas Pun and Doc feed themselves with their profits. Ken will be getting work from me early next summer.
