I own both, and I would have to say X-box.
-Has better graphics
-Has Xbox live
-Xbox live lets you download new levels and maps for games
-The hard drive lets you store CD's, and you never need a memory card
-Has better games in my opinion
I think Xbox is just an overall better system... I play mine alot more than my PS2

Nintendo is making more money than it's entire history. It is making more money back when they had NES in 1 out of every 4 American homes. It is making more money than the SNES glory days.Originally posted by ShooterJM
Yeah I think nintendo is going the way of sega.
This is without the onslaught of Pokemon either. Profit is made off of each Gamecube sold.

I also picked up a Gamecube a few months back. I figured, why not...but luckily for me, they do have a few good titles out for it. Metroid Prime and Zelda: WW is worth the price of the system. Unfortunately, it looks like the days of the cube is coming to an end. More and more developers just aren't developing for it because the system doesn't sell.Comment

Uh...okay. I guess I don't know what I'm talking about. I only make games for a living.Originally posted by nippinout
/me dislikes it when people talk about video games and don't know what they are saying or talking about.

Well you did say that the days of the cube were coming to an end.

Just 2 weeks ago, in Europe, Gamecube OUTSOLD PS2. Did you hear that? OUTSOLD.
Explain to me how the days of the cube is coming to an end please.Comment

For one, Nintendo is NOT making any profits from each Gamecube sold. It's common knowledge that hardware makers take the hit on the hardware side in hopes that the profit made off of software sales will help pull them through.
Also, there's speculation that EA, a top video game distributer, might not publish Gamecube games in the future because the market share just isn't out there.
There have been some discussions here at work too which questions whether our next game will be developed for the Gamecube or not.
I wouldn't make the Gamecube out to be a dominant system in the market as you make it sound it to be. Outselling the PS2 in a month or so doesn't give the overall picture. What about the US and Japan markets? What are the user base numbers between the PS2 and the Gamecube? I'm sure you'll see that there are clearly more PS2 owners out there.Last edited by gibby; 04-14-2003, 09:09 PM."I just came for your mayonaise." ~ TooDamnSweet

Well according to a fairly recent report I read, in the US, both Xbox and PS2 are outselling the Gamecube by quite a large margin.
In my house I have a Gamecube PS2 and Xbox (PS2 and Xbox are mine while the cube is mostly my little brothers) Honeslty out of all the orignal games for the Gamecube the latest Zelda, and Metroid Prime are the only games that i've played for it and haven't found any other games that appealing. Xbox on the other hand has games like Halo, Mech Assault, Ghost Recon (that doesn't suck) and many others. PS2 has the GTA games as well as final fantasy (which might going to nintentdo?). Also both Xbox and PS2 are online capable, and the Xbox dominates this field with Xbox live.
I'm not saying Nintendo is going away, just pointing out compared to the Xbox and PS2, Cube isn't doing so hot (in the US, don't know too much about European market)

I did not say that they were dominating. Just the fact that the Gamecube was able to outsell the PS2 is amazing. No one even expected anything like that to happen.Comment

EA Games will be releasing up to 20 games within the next 12 months for the Gamecube. Shigeru Miyamoto will be collaborating with EA Games on the gameplay mechanics.
"The first three EA titles to support connectivity between the two systems [GC AND GBA] will be FIFA 2004, Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 2004 and Madden NFL 2004" -gamefaction.com
Finally! We'll be able to play football without giving plays away.
"This agreement means that three of the world's most popular sports games - FIFA soccer, Tiger Woods PGA TOUR golf, and Madden NFL football - are going to include a new way to play, and new way to compete on Nintendo systems," said EA Senior Vice President and General Manager for Europe, Gerhard Florin.

Guys, please don't let this degenerate into a flame fest.
nippinout: the gamecube may be a fine system, but its not one I am interested in. I was looking for opinions on the 2 I mentioned.
Dispite its larger game selection of the PS2, I'm still leaning towards the Xbox.

Have fun with whatever system you choose.
Why not pick up two?
I have a GC, and the roomy has the PS2. Nice setup, except we only have a 19" TV.

Hey, Blennidae
Can you tell us who you work for?
I'm currently working for the juggernaut (EA) in our Canadian hq.
We make the FIFA and most of the other sports titles here.
Just wondering
