doesnt it seem like whereever you try to play some dickhead neighbors come along and ruin the day?
Last week i thought i was indecisive, but now im not sure anymore...

or possibly some neighbor's "dickhead" kids were out there endangering the whole neighborhood... All depends on your perspective I guess...

That is why there are paintball fields and why playing in the backyard is frowned upon and generally called "outlaw paintball"

paintchucker - why are they outlaw? i dont remember any of my elected officials signing a bill saying i couldnt play on my land. and if they tried, i sure wouldnt vote for them. i admit that there should be respect for the neighbors (warning them of pb activities on certain days, not playing at 2:00 in the morning. not shooting their house, car or personal property). but who are my neighbors to say what i can and cant do on my property. what if they dont like the car i drive, or the music i listen to, or my race or gender. will i soon have to worry about part of an "outlaw religion" or reading "outlaw books"?

although i think f3rr3+ could be a little more articulate in defending his position, i know his pain because im in the same boat. see thread:

They are called "outlaw" because they are not a commercial venture, and generally aren't reffed but for the honor system.

...and this belongs in Friendly Corner, soooooo......

I guess there are good points to driving an hour to play at a field! I'll have to remember that next time I go!

I've never had this happen, because I go to actual Insured Paintball Fields. I would suggest you do the same unless your name is 1stdeadeye, then you get to play at oil refineries.

dfs, looks like you have a lot of growing up to do before you realize that your "rights" do not mean you can do whatever you want on your property. If that were the case, I'd invite all the people I hate to my house and then kill them.

Hey now! It's not like I haven't invited you.

BTW, we are playing at the refinery next weekend with the same police officers again. You up for it? You are more then welcome to use my back-up R/T! LMK!

If you can't afford to play at a real field, maybe paintball isn't the right sport for you....

Outlaw fields should never be allowed, the homeowners insurance will not cover any accidents. This also drives business away from the local field.
Since I can do anything on my property, I think I'll invite a bunch of minors over for a keg party! It's my property, so I can do whatever I want!

Nice one warped, dude I us to be like you and played in the woods with no refs and such but then paintball fields sprung up and I'm there every sat. If you can't afford the 10 for field fee and the 10 for air. This is not your sport. Only reason I can say for you to play "outlaw" ball is a field isn't with in 50 miles.

i dont play at the local fields because:

                            1. they give partial hpa and co2 fills and charge full price
                            2. the field workers play while paying customers are playing and ref give preference to friends and coworkers.
                            3. the 16 yr olds working there pick on the little kids and newbies for their "lesser" equipment and skill but let the older bigger guys cheat because they are afraid to challenge them
                            4. the fields suck.
                            5. they are just as far as driving to my field.
                            6. if i get lit up, id rather laugh about it with friends than have to listen to pb lifers who live at the field on daddys $$ brag about smoking newbies.

warped1 & deathstalker - are you guys on the payroll of one these fields? so what if they dont get my business? if they could provide quality service and a reasonable price id go. but they cant... so i dont. and as for the keg party, giving alcohol to minors is a crime; its a law that that was passed by elected officials. can anyone show me a law that bans paintball fields on personal property (other than states where pb is banned all together)? pb and basketball are both sports. i can play basketball and on my property. why not paintball if i have enough land and the right equipment? and what does growing up have to do with playing paintball on a personally owned field? tell that to the punks who pb cars and houses.

i dont get it. pballers spend a huge protion of their time convincing society and parents that pb is a sport and, with the proper equipment, is very safe. but i mention that i play my sport in my backyard (which is larger than commercial property owned by local fields) and pballers are saying "ban it! ban it! its like giving alcohol to minors!"

rant off. (im still wound up about my socially disfunctional neighbor. can you tell? )

i like armys reference to outlaw fields being on the honor system. all my players are honorable. we dont need refs to try and catch wipers or ban players for unsportsman like conduct. we dont need haughty pro shop staff to fix our guns or fill our tanks. we'll inform those who dont understand the sport we'll stand up to those that tell us we cant play simply because they dont like it.

I'm on no ones payroll, I've just been playing 13 years. And after I did my research to open a field, I realised "outlaw" ball hurts the sport both in image and monetarily.
