IPs are not dynamic at all. Individual assignments may be as a user, but ISPs get very static blocks. It's trivial to find out for a given IP how large the block is, and who owns it. From there you can ban an entire range to get rid of lamers. As a BOFH stlye admin I will often ban entire ranges of IPs to make sure one lamer is not on my game servers or forum.

it's pretty stupid if they just ban a single ip, since they change so much. if they dont ban a range then they probably do something like ban your hostname.

I love the shotgun style of fixing a problem, shoot a large burst and hope one hits the guy... This also might get some other innocents but i respect your zeal. I find that my ip changes every couple of months, but some dsls i hear change and of course dialup does. No matter, im sure it works in your case!

im giving the dude a break. But if he gets smart with me one more time I will loose it. This guy has done everything from bash my gun for sale threads to make fun of like EVERY reply I used to make. He did all this just because I contantly crack Jeremy Salm jokes over there and he like knows the guy or something.

O well...ill let it go one more time....

Quick easy way with cox is to do it and then tell your router to refresh its connection... (Log onto it and its pretty streight forward from there) So far as using a wildcard ban with cox its pretty difficult due to the fact that they use multiple IP blocks across different subnets in any given area. (Which makes networking buisness users with mult Dynamic IPs a pain in the ***) But the AOL idea is proboly the idea of choice.... banning anything AOL is damned near imposible without banning all of AOL....which would ban ALOT of users from that forum.
