Questions about sport bikes (crotch rockets)

well, ive decided to buy a sport bike

    i would like some opinions.

seems like at the moment the financing is pretty good, Honda has 6.9$ percent fixed and Yamaha has 3.9$ till jan. of 2005 or a fixed 5.9$
The only problem with the Yamaha financing is after jan of 2005, its 12% which i dont want, but if i would have it paid off by then, the 3.9 would be ideal

im only looking to finance about $4000

anyways, im looking at either a YZF600R or R6 from yamaha and a CBR600F4i from honda.

the yzf is 7 grand and the R6 and F4i are about 8.

one of my main questions is whats the difference? i know the r6 is lighter but is that it?

i do like the new deltabox 3 on the r6, but it doesnt have a comfy ride compared to the F4i and YZF

horsepower i believe is the same, but i could be wrong.

ive been looking at these for a little while, so im getting ready to buy one of these beasts

bottom line, i dont want to spend anymore than i have to, if the YZF is a nice bike and isnt noticibly slower than either the R6 or F4i, ill buy that.

im not really looking into any other bikes just because they dont have big dealers in my area.

im looking forward to seeing what you guys have to say

    thanks

    Cliff

also, if you dont know anything about bikes, please tell me what you think of the way these 3 bikes look, i would like your opinions on just cosmetics too
    thanks

    YZF-600R

    R6

    R6

Go for the R6 all the way. They are all nice bikes. The R6 is sweet. Everyone has CBR's. I am picking up my Suzuki Hayabusa tomorrow night.

You should definately check out financing at your bank. The interest rate from my bank was 4.79%. Way better than them all because it doesn't change.

    Good luck.

my bank will finance a bike for me, however the rate is somewhere around 14%

the R6, is my last choice just because its not as comfortable to ride as the YZF and the F4i.

but im looking for as much feedback as i can, so thanks!

With the R6 and CBR, look into donating a kidney on the black market to fund your insurance. Since insurance is based on numbers, and those are two or the more popular bikes, you're gonna be forking out some cash to the insurance company. You're 22 so it'll definately be high (I'm 23 and have checked around). Now with the YZF 600 I'm not sure what insurance will be, not sure if it's classified as a "superbike" or racebike like the R6 and CBR but is probably lower since it's a "tamer" bike. If money isn't an object, get the R6, if it is, stay away from the inline 4's and look into a bike with a V-twin. I recently got a Suzuki SV650S and insurance is pretty low because of the engine. Just my $.02

$165 a year???? I'd bet on it being "per month"

I'd talk with your insurance agent instead of that online deal, something is not right.

Something is messed up with Progressive, no agent in the world would sell you a policy with that low of numbers. If you want to have a policy that is easily topped out, then go with that, but its not where I'd insure my bike, but that's just me. Also I've seen Progressive fail to honor it's online quotes on multiple occasions, so I just don't trust them for bike insurance(The incidence of a bunch of Triumph TT 600 owners who got a year for like 125 bucks and then got notice their policy was jumping to like 400 bucks due to an error in classification) The CBR and R6 are a tier higher on the insurance scales than the YZF on the scale the real companies use.

As for the difference between the bikes, you didnt state what you intend to use it for. That should be your main concern. If you intend to ride 12 ft and be a cock off, go with the R6. If you want the best distance bike in the group go with the YZF600. If you want something in between, go with the CBR. The flamed R6 is more money than the standard R6, just so you kow. You also failed to mention your riding background. The R6 can get people out of their league real fast.

my aunt works for an insurance agency, she told me to call them because they have the best rates for younger riders.
so i called them twice, once for the YZF and once for the R6.

the quote is for basic coverage and not anything super special, my 19yr old brother has a kaw 750 and his is $172 a year. and he has one ticket.

i went to my local dealer yesterday and today and they had 4 R6's, they had all 3 color patterns and each was the same price. (blue/white, silver, and black/red)

like i said, the R6 is the least comfortable, which makes it less appealing to me, i mean i want speed and all that good stuff, but i dont want to not enjoy the ride.

as far as riding experience goes, ive got enough to know how to ride, ive ridden a few bikes, but i do not have a lisence.
but im also not an idiot, so wheelies and stupid crap is not what i would be doing.

as far as what i would be doing with it, riding it.
not everyday, but as much as possible. probably to class and work, and whenever i felt like a ride, i mean its not a main vehicle.

however, insurance is not an issue. so im not worried about that

                              From Yamaha itself
                              Manufacturer's Sugg. Retail Price...$7,999 ~ $8,099*

Your dealer may be selling them all for the same price, but they aren't. Trust me they can afford to eat the hundred dollars off MSRP(if you're paying close to MSRP I truly pity you), but there is still a difference. Check into replacement fairings, and see if I'm wrong. Unfortunately, I'm right, Sorry. Don't care what Joe Blow the salesman at the shop tells you, I've seen the invoices.

If you find a bike uncomfortable and are still considering buying it, you are exactly the type of person that I wish would never own a bike. If you just want it for cock off factor, go rice out a Civic and not give real cyclists a bad name. The type of person that makes that decision is the same detriment to the cycle community that a person who commits vandalism with a paintball gun is to the paintball community.

Any bike on that list will go well over the speed limit, and get there faster than any car ever thought about. Unless you plan on running some drags with your bike, I don't see what your rant about speed is all about. (You've supposedly ridden a lot of bikes, but don't know anything about the bikes you're considering, seems odd) I'd advise you that the R6 is probably out of your league on the mere fact that you can't spell license correctly.

I'm assuming you mean Liability Only for "basic coverage" which I wouldnt recommend on a full fairing bike. Hell if it gets knocked over plastics get damn expensive, damn fast.

I re-read this, and it sounds kind of negative, sorry but its late and I'm doing homework. I don't want to be negative I just want you to have all the facts before you rush into a decision. I look around campus and see all these beautiful bikes scratched up because their owners thought looking like a cock was more important than riding within their limits.
