Well as I have ordered my new computer (finally)

I decided it was time to stop playing CS only, so I went to EB, looked around. I already have CS and BF1942, BF1942 Desert Storm Mod. As I was walking around, I noticed a very nice looking game, called "Planet Shift", so I take it off the shelf, look at it, WOW. What a game, its made by the same people as everquest, so you know it will be good.

The game is based around future people, that look like the guys from redvsblue.com.

Now heres where the challenge comes in...
You gotta pay like 10 dollars a month to play (I dont care)
Now heres the system requirements:
Pentium 4 1.8 Ghz
Geforce 4 128MB
DirectX 8.1 or higher with supported sound card
3.5 GB free drive space


But all in all, if you feel like playing a game that is as cool as everquest, want to know more, visit www.myplanetside.com, look at the screen shots, everything.

I havent played the game yet, because the computer I am running now has like 1.5GB with a Geforce 2, 128 Ram. I wouldnt even be able to get to the start up screen. My new comp should be here next week. I am gonna install the free 7 day trial on my brothers computer, because his meets the requirements.

I will let you all know what it is like, but heres a screen shot to hold you over if your to lazy to visit the site.

The point is to shoot people. Or run over them, blow them up, etc. And to the first person that says CS is free, when was the last time you played CS with 2000 other people on the same server?

There is no point has some validity at this point in the game.

Not much on content, hack a base, kill the enemy, hack a base kill the enemy, rinse repeat.


Is it fun?

HELL YEAH!

But to some extent there isn't a whole lot of staying power in the game right now.

There are new toys coming soon, Bomber, Large vehicle transport, anti aircraft buggies, orbital strikes.

But that is in the future, for which the devs refuse to give a time line.

Not sure where you saw 10 bucks a month for the sub, it's 13 a month right now.

Well my brother got it installed on his comp, well after getting used to the controls and where things were, it is a very fun game, even though the game just keeps going, but its one hell of a good game.

Cant wait till I get it on my new comp.

When I first read about this game, I thought it was the greatest thing. Imagine, merging an EQ like gameplay with an FPS one and you're golden!

Unfortunately, a lot of the promises of how the game was going to be like kind of fell short...from what I hear people talking about at work. We have a few guys here that are playing the beta.

Most are telling me that there's no reward for sticking around and defending your newly acquired base. Not to mention the automated defenses hardly do anything.

So in many ways, however fun it maybe, it's still another mindless shooter which fell short of its promises.

At least, that's the impression I get from listening to the conversations at work.

I got bored with it beta testing and just went back to playing SOF2 and TRIBES

My new love is TRON 2.0 which is one of the better games I've tested in a WHILE .. I cant wait for its August release!

Looks like SS:Tribes with better graphics.

The graphics aren't really better ... they're pretty cimilar.

The vehicles look cooler, and the SKY effects/bubble effects are amazing .. but the gameplay and player/building models are almost identical.

Game is not laggy at all, even though their are like 3,000 people in the emerald US east server at a time. Only time I lag is when I open doors and stuff.

Then you my friend are in the vast minority.

My entire outfit moved from Emerald to Johari and lost about 50K in points because of the lag there.

And the fact that SOE refuses to even acknowledge they have a problem is infuriating to no end.

SOE screwed up big on this game, they did not fix most of the important issues. Like the lag in some servers, the worst thing is that they made the Terran Republic unbeatable. They are coming out with several new patches within the next few weeks to fix these problems.

No game is perfect when it is released. Planet Side is getting better everyweek. The DEV team is fixing the problems they arise and in the next 2 weeks will have a huge patch out addeing tons more stuff.

It can get boring at times but I think it is overall fun to play.

EDIT: BTW what is CS? Kill some people, defuse or plant a bomb.

CS = Counter Strike.

Main objective is your the terroists is to plant the bomb and gaurd it until you are sure that its gonna go off.

Main Objective if you Counter-Terroists is to diarm the bomb, guard the bomb site so the terroists dont plant the bomb.


Its very fun.
