Chevy's are too long and too heavy. They make good engine swaps for Jeeps though. A nice 350 V8 with a NV 4500 tranny and Atlas II T-Case would make an awesome crawler. I wouldn't recommend it for heavy road use, but it would be a monster in the mud and on the rocks! And you said and S-10?! Yeah, cause that's comparable to a Jeep. I've run over and out ran bigger things than an S-10. About the only thing better suited for off-road action, that is affordable, would be a Land Rover. Four Runners are ok, but a little bulky and unstable, old Broncos are good, but the same, unstable (see truckstv.com project CrazyHorse). Jeeps are the best.
