Austin, TX is a great place to live. The job market isn't too bad, housing costs are relatively low, and it's a small drive to any of the major cities. And you're an hours drive from Texas A&M which is a great school and campus, I go there every year for the Aggieland Classic Lacrosse Tournament. Anyhow, Austin is very nice. I wouldn't mind living there myself, but I'm stuck in DFW.

          miscue,

thought about boston and the surrounding areas for jobs in the comp sci field?

there are tons of places around here for jobs, as long as you have the skillset that companies are looking for. on top of great jobs, the city itself is great.

lots of great local watering holes, if youre into hitting the bars. great colleges, bentley, BU, BC, etc..

either way.. you feel up to checking out the area.. you can come up here and check things out and i can provide you with a comfy couch to stay on in my apartment. im just south of boston..

              /me is going to cry...

I never knew how mortgages worked exactly, because I never needed to. All I know is that the interest rate right now is low... and I calculated that I should be able to afford a house. Now that I've been looking at it... purchasing a house will be next to impossible... because normally you have to work in the same place for a while from what I've learned. I don't think moving right now is feasible, as I do not wish to rent.

Well... I guess I may be stuck in Vegas for a while. But I have very little expenses while living at home, so I can build up my bank account for maybe 2 years and then moving and purchasing a new house will be a lot easier.

I just hope interest rates don't get jacked up by then...

Well, I'll tell you where you don't want to live. Northern NH. The cost of living is really low, and it's nice and peacful up here. I love it. You'd be hardpressed to find a job for computer science though. Maybe southern NH. There are some universities down there.

I guess you missed the part about a reasonable cost of living! The entire Boston metro area is absolutely crazy as far as that goes.

I mean I could basicly rent a closet in Boston for what I currently pay in rent.

That being said, I hope to be back in the Bay State Summer 05! How is that for long term planning

Not true my friend! Who told you that?

To get a mortgage all you really need is a downpayment and a job. Being a recent college grad will suffice for history. Right now it is almost easier to get a mortgage then a car loan! PM me if you have mortgage questions, I can answer them!

As for where to move to, easy. South Jersey!

I moved here from Bethesda, MD and love it. Housing is reasonable, cost of living and traffic are a joke compared to the DC Metro Area. Close to Philly and not too far from NYC and Baltimore! Plus we get ALL 4 SEASONS HERE!!!!

If you can make it here, you can make it anywhere. It's up to you...

                            But,
                            1. Jobs, low.
                            2. Cost of living, high.
                            3. Home ownership, in your dreams.
                            4. And the worse is you have to go to Jearsey to play PB.
