um it saw action from early in ww2 to korea and probibly into vietnam, and im sure the gvt has them pilled up somewhere. the M1 was the best battlefield impliment ever devised. next to the atomic bomb and b29 that was americas secret weapon in ww2... any way back to the m16A1 is the mid vietnam eara m16. it has a 20 inch barrel includes forward assist ( manual overide type ting for when the gun jams)...
