I don't know just the way I see it, its not as easy as school ending to not suffer from depression... I guess you could feel depressed but oh well i see that as different then depression thats just me lol sorry

Mabe if you actually knew the situation you wouldnt feel that way? It was more how my parents fealt about school. I was grounded from paintball for some time, and was hounded so bad about C's. Sounds minor, but it just flat out sucked. I would worry so much about my grades I would make myself sick. Actually, bit off topic, but a friend of mine when he was in kindergarten, was removed from scchool because he hated it so much he would be continuously sick, day after day. Oh well, I guess I shouldnt have said anything, because we all know its different to be like that and to hear about it...and I hate acting like im some depressed self loathing teeny bopper. BAH!

Squid, Ive felt like this for 3 or 4 years. So its not like it just came onto me one day. And as for your friend who left school that early, it sounds kinda like Paragaphobia(sp?), a phobia of being in public places. But I dont know the whole situation.

I have a doctors appointment next Friday, and school starts in 2 days, so maybe some things will start to get better.

Just thought I would finish this thread out....

I've seen a counciler twice since I made this thread. It wasnt really helping that much, and I really hate having the "I have to go to counciling" thought in my head. My dad cancelled all my appointments for it, and told me that he didnt think it was anything serious.

I guess I'll just wait for something to change then.

Hey Alex, man, everybody gets like that from time to time I think. Hell, I'm kind of in a funk right now myself just because of the way things have been going lately. But the important thing is that life is ever changing. What seems like a bland and boring existance can change overnight with the slightest thing. You meet a great girl, you get an opprotunity to do something new, you go somewhere you've never been before. Remember life is a long road, and while some of the scenery gets stale in parts, there's always new things coming up ahead. You just gotta keep looking for them, that's all. Your 15 now, but once you get old enough to leave town you can go off and do whatever you want to do. That should cure any boredom you have right there!

Seriously though, things will eventually get better for you. Being a teenager is really hard...I think that might even be the point so to speak. That's what I always thought high school was about...survival and adaptation. Anyway, stepping out into the adult world will provide you with a multitude of new experiences and challenges that should break you out of any slump you've found yourself in. Just keep hangin' in and keepin' positive about things...they'll turn around.

Oh, and yes, I am still planning on buying your Angel just as soon as I can. Promise.

dre1919, I think you misunderstand the problem. This is not a situation that everybody goes through. It's not a slump, it's not something you can just pull out of. It's not a time-to-time matter, that's the whole point about it.

It's a big dark hole you can fall into for a LONG time... months... years. It can be very difficult to come out of, some never do. They can only take brief vacations away from it from time-to-time.

Some people can have all sorts of reasons to be happy, but they're still in the hole anyway.

One tough thing for someone who is suffering from depression is, people do not understand what it is. The 'Snap-out-of-it,' 'everyone gets down sometimes' type of advice does more harm than good. It's like if someone lost the use of their legs, and then their friends/family told them to get up and walk... shake it off. It's not that easy, a lot of time and effort can be involved to get back on one's feet.

But yeah, finishing school... meeting the right girl... really good changes for the better... can help turn things around. But that poison can keep you from finishing school, or meeting a girl as well. Those kinds of good changes may not cure anything either, depending on how deep it runs.

Now that your in school I realy think that finding something to get involved in at school could help you alot. Me also being 15 I know that school is a huge part of your life, finding something that makes you want to go there could realy change you outlook.

I don't know if they have this were you live, but I would sudgest looking into an outward bound trip. You go out into the wilderness with a group of people that you usualy don't know and do stuff like paddel rivers and climb mountains in the middle of now where, away from all the usual tv, and other modern conviniences. These last anywere from 2 weeks too a whole semester out there where you get highschool credets as you go. It could realy give you time to sort stuff out while being totlay removed from your usual element. Being busy all day doing the things that you have to do will also keep you from being board with your life. Try to make your dad realize that this is a serious problem, he might help you find something like this to do.

Depression is a disease. It should be treated seriously. My best friend died of depression. Well technically it was a bullet through the head, but depression caused it. I have two other friends that died the same way. Go to your school guidance counselor. If you don't feel comfortable talking with him, then ask him if he has info on any counselors in the area. A lot of people don't feel comfortable going to a school counselor. Everyone sees you, and they all wonder whats wrong with you. So there's nothing wrong with not going to him. He can give you information on other local counselors though. So check that out.

Next time your at your doctor, tell him how you feel. There are medicines that can treat depression. Sometimes that's all it takes. I'll say it again, depression is a disease. It can be cauesed by some chemical imbalance. That means it can be fixed with a chemical. If your doctor says that your full of crap and your just some lazy kid, then I'd suggest going to a counselor first. They should be able to write the doctor a note or something, saying that you suffer from depression. Then you could get a subscription.

One more thing. You say you have trouble talking with your friends about it, because you don't have any 'real' friends. That's probably not true. Your friends will be able to help you a lot. Talk to them and tell them how you feel. Part of depression is feeling as if your abandoned, or don't have friends, when in fact they're really good friends. I'm sure they'll be glad to help out. After my best friend died, it like, all came into vision for us. He was obviously depressed. He had been for years. It's so obvious now, if we had just talked to him, I'm sure we could have helped. It's hard to tell though. If he had come to us, his friends, and said something about how he felt, we could have helped.

Well, sorry if I rambled on. Depression always scares me though.

i just found this theread, i have been dealing with this for 10 years with my wife.

there are many things that can effect this. but one of the big ones is sleep.

just tell what your schedule is like and i will respond after that.
