I fully agree with everyone's right to free speech but feel compelled to say something here.

The tremendous resent Americans (most, that is) feel towards France and Germany is not that they did not fight. That is certainly their choice.

It was their decision to not uphold their alliance agreements with Turkey. Remember, Turkey asked that any NATO countries that were not involving themselves with the actual invasion of Iraq would support Turkey in guard her boarders as they are the only NATO country that shares a border with Iraq.

France and Germany refused and that is simply unacceptable. France, since it's joining the NATO alliance has managed to weasel out of every major group in NATO except for the political one. They love being able to have the protection of the US and the ability to speak out against us whenever they want but they also like the fact that they do not really have to send any troops into combat if they do not want to.

As for Germany, I think it's fairly apparent that they still are trying to unite all of Europe under their flag, only this time, after having lost two wars to do so, they are using economic pressure to do it.

When several newly freed Soviet satelite states voiced their opinion in consent with President Bush the Chancellor of Germany essentially said that their acceptance to the EU was pretty much impossible. By using the economic pressures of the EU, Germany and France have tremendous power to exert their own views.

Finally, let's not forget that France had a tremendous amout of lucrative oil contracts made with Saddam's regime. That certainly came into play when making the decision to oust Saddam.

Now, I am not saying Bush is right and perfect and he is the golden child. Lord knows no one is. But I do have to say that every day since those vile monsters destroyed the World Trade I thank god that Gore is not President.

Oh please don't turn this into another policy debate!!!! Do you really want to deal with Collegeboy's, 1stdeadeye's, and most importantly my insane ramblings? I'd point out several things I disagree with in your above statement but it would cascade into a debate of things we have already beat to death.......
