Yay .. Finally ordered my computer parts

Well after working for about 4-5 months I finally saved up enough in my bank account to get a nice computer ($1400 nice), just ordered the parts last night:

    Pentium 4 2.6 GHz 800FSB
    Intel Pentium 4 Motherboard
    512 MB PC2700 DDRAM
256 MB ATI Radeon 9800 Pro
    52x32x52 Lite On CDRW
80 GB 7200 RPM Maxtor Hard Drive
    Windows XP Home Edition
    Cheiftec ATX Case

Anyone else got a nice comp? Pics?

That sounds like a smokin' system.

That vid card will be insane!

I put together a 2.4 P4 system back in June and I love it. I went with an ASUS FX5200 video card. It does pretty well. My next serious system I build will be AMD and the money saved will go towards a better video card.

But yeah, enjoy it. Where'd you order the parts?

I've got a barton 2500xp on a Epox 8rda+ with 1gb of Corsiar XMS extreme DDR memory and a Pair of WD 10k rpm raptors with a Promise tech s150 tx2 plus raid controller.

The bartons currently running at the speed of a 3200xp and the fsb and dual channel ram is at 420mhz. Going to replace my chaintech ti 4200 SE with something better after PB season is over.

whoa..those are some very nice computers! Have fun, cause that's gonna rip! (just don't forget to take the sticker off the bottom of the heatsink when you place it on the processor, i made that mistake, and it was about a $350 mistake )

hey crighton, how's that corsair memory? I've heard a lot of good things about it.

            2.4ghz P4 800mhz fsb
            Asus p4c800 delux mobo
            1gig pc3200 dual channal
            audigy 2 platinum
G4 ti 4200, soon to be all in wonder 9800
i also just ordered a cooler master wavemaster case and some vantec stealth fans that should be here soon.
as for your setup, personally i would have gone with the 128mb 9800 and with the extra money ordered pc3200 or better memory, so it will run better with the 800mhz fsb.

Runs like a dream. It's rated at 400mhz I had it up over 450 before it started having problems in memtest.

was just about to post the same thing, lol.

                      my setup is decent:

                      ABIT IC7 I875PE 800MHz FSB DUAL DDR 8X AGP
                      800fsb p4 2.4

                      radeon 9600 pro (should've gone 9700 but i couldn't afford it...definitely can't afford 9800)
sb live 5.1 gamer (what's so much better about the audigy, the sound quality on live is excellent..)
                      cybertec case (looks just like

i'm in love with it...however it depresses me that my computer-ignorant friends are getting better computers than myself lol....

You are so right on that...the difference that the Audigy ver.1 or ver.2 is like the so called "Hi-Fi" mags that show how they improved a readers set up by swapping out the interconnects for "carlosfandango OFC" you would need reference cd's to hear the difference and only then if you have the "ear" for it...the vast majority don't. The speakers we put on our pc's to be honest are toys compared to what a lot of us have on our Hi-Fi's so why waste the money on an Audigy.

Stay away from the Augidy2's.... I have an Audigy2 Platinum, and while playing MP3s at times, it will skip forward 5 seconds or so. Started doing this shortly after installation about 7 months ago. The built in AC97 sound card on my mobo never did this.

Creative needs to get its act together and actually put out drivers that work.

e mag, ever consider going to water cooling?
