it was the first of its kind...it set the precedence for the dark, depressing views of the future...most "firsts of its kinds" are popular as all get out but don't necessarily age well..

True dat. Reservoir Dogs is a great movie though. Animatrix and The Matrix Reloaded were both HIGHLY overrated/anticipated. That DVD of Splatt Attack was also highly overrated unless you went to the event, IMO. I know there's a lot of other movies that are overrated, but I'd need some time to think of which ones

I agree about Reloaded and the Animatrix being overrated. I was horribly disappointed with Reloaded. They should have just left it alone with the original Matrix, awesome movie.

Pearl harbor was a good movie. I didn't see it in theatres so I wasn't let down like you guys were. Nor did I see Matrix:Reloaded which many people disliked. As for Tarentino films they aren't exactly great films if you put the movie into a sequence. He just breaks them up so you get confused and watch different parts. I still enjoy his movies just don't think he is that great of a director.

Matrix Reloaded, Animatrix (like two good shorts on whole DVD), i liked reservoir dogs, Sunday Drivers (only good part was the spooning discussion and some footage), Any harry potter movie (to stupidly childish), castaway.

I cant believe my ears...or eyes. Reservoir Dogs is a glorious movie! Like ov3rmind said, the reason it was, as you say, "very pulp fiction-esque" is because they were made by Quinten Tarantino, who i think is and amazing director, but not so good of an actor. And i know 90% of you folks hate Micheal Moore and Bowling For Columbine, but i thought it was pretty cool, even if he does stretch the numbers, SO WHAT!!? Let it go! Hes a very interesting guy, i mean c'mon, HE MADE SPINAL TAP!!! Go out and read "Stupid White Men", its cool. That is the end of my rant. Anyways, in my mind the most overrated movies are as follow:

                Chicago*
                Pearl Harber
                Titanic
                Matrix 1 AND 2
                Moulin Rouge*
Citizen Kane(I have yet to see it, but people say its one of the best movies every made, it doesnt look that great, please correct me if im wrong)

                *=The same movie?

That is one of the reasons i love his movies, they kindof dont make sense at first, but then when your goin through the movie, you start seeing things come together. If he would have out the scenes in the same order, it wouldnt have been as awesome. Anyways, in Pulp Fiction how could have he out them in a different order, everything was happening at the same time, on the same plane of existance if you will. So that is the way he did it. I actually just got done watchin reservoir dogs and pulp fiction today, and no, i dont have a life.

Reservoir Dogs was a remake of a Japanese film and followed the theme reasonably closely so any mistakes were already in the film before Tarentino got to it.
Directors tend to stick to what they know/like, Desparado was a violent nonsense film (not 100% sure Tarentino directed though) and the same of the film with George Clooney, Harvey Keitel, Cheech Marin and Tarentino film set at the truck stop in Mexico (can't remember the title)...stupid, violent and fun...with a pretty good twist at the end. Tarentino is not a "great" director but he is pretty good even if the films tend to be similar in plot and actors

There used to be a petition on this to revoke the Oscar from Moore, I just looked at it a moment ago and it seems to have changed.

                          Mark:

Both of those movies were directed by Robert Rodriguez, although I think Tarantino has a writing credit for from Dusk till Dawn.

i think why most people are saying the the matrix reloaded was over-rated is because it isnt a complete movie, it is meant to be accompanied by the revolutions... now, if the revolutions fails to come up with an unforseen, yet extremely satisfying(sp) conclusion to the trilogy, then yeah it was over-rated... but wait until revolutions to pass judgement. it is a trilogy after all, the third movie could completely change the way you look at the second

Agreed. With almost any popular trilogy, the second movie isn't meant to be loved and watched again and again... it's meant to set up the finale, and link everything together, explaining things that need explaining, etc. Although I also agree that if the third Matrix sucks, then my whole defense ends up down the toilet.

About the same people who made Pulp Fiction: they also made American Psycho. Now I haven't seen Pulp Fiction (or Resevoir Dogs) but American Psycho definitely fits the description of disjointed, kinda weird, and all that good stuff. I had to watch it through twice before I even understood what in the hell was going on, but after that I really enjoyed the movie.

MY VOTE FOR MOST OVERRATED MOVIE: Titanic. bleh. I guess it just wasn't my type of movie... at all... for any of its 9 and a half hours...
