You cannot pull out of Iraq, if you do, it would appear to everyone on both sides that the tactics employed by insurgents in Iraq work, and such tactics would become even more widespread.

I hate to get into a political discussion because they tend to get so heated...

Let look at it from a historical perspective. If we were the Roman Empire.. we would simply bulldoze these troublesome nations and make them our own. We would not be buying their oil, we would be taking it. And not too many of them would have the nerve to even raise a finger to us.. the fact that they do is a testament to how soft we have become.

Being #1 in the world, means that once in a while you have to kick some a** just to keep everyone else who wants a peice of you in line. I have no problem with us looking out for our best interests- and laugh at anyone who cries what an unjust war this was with Iraq while at the same time offering nothing but obstruction and hostility instead of real ideas and solutions.

Political and military alliances come and go, as anyone with some knowledge of history will tell you. To anyone who cries that America MADE Saddam Hussien, I will not completely disagree with you, however, its that same soft-willed mentallity that didnt allow the mistake to be corrected.

To finish my point... although we are a flawed people.. we are STILL the free-est, noblest nation the world has ever seen.

Be very afraid for the draft coming back. The military is going to continue to try and do the same job with less. I should have been helping Louisiana or Alabama, or Florida but I got moved to an Iraq deployment.

Iraq will be the next Germany. We'll be there for sixty years. I feel sorry for my grandfather who wasn't able to see the Berlin Wall come down. I won't see a day when all American troops are out of Afghanistan, Iraq and Syria if things continue to go down this road.

1. The US has 5% of the Worlds population. Yet they use 25% of the worlds Resources.

2. United States Oil Consumption stands at 25.62% (over 1 quarter of the worlds oil, not America's)

3. Real Global Priority - #1 Military spending in the world, $780 000 000 000. (heavily supported and sponsored by the United States)

4. Obesity, where has it first become an epidemic (yep America)

5. Since 1945 America has invaded Hungary, Checkoslovakia, Afganistan, North Korea, South Korea, North Vietnam, South Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Libya, Sudan, Argentina, Falklands, Israel, Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Egypt, Iraq (twice), Kuwait, Iran. In the same period, the U.S. invaded Afganistan, Haiti, Panama, Grenada, Laos, Cambodia and North Korea. Some would say you have also invaded Cuba, Nicaragua, Lebanon, Somalia and the Dominican Republic, but who's counting all these 3rd world counrty's? (I smell greed for dominance over weak underdogs)

I Could Keep Going But Your Losing Interest or Quite Simply Getting Annoyed (hey don't get pissed at me, i'm just bringing it to your attention.)

now for AMERICAN CONFUSION

1. Afghanistan Attacked You. right? get your priority's straight. If it's time to invade another country invade the country who is responsible. Not Iraq.

2. What is with the American Patriotic Spirit, look i'm from Australia, I love it here but I wouldn't kill someone who says some crap about me or my counrty. (remember sticks and stones) they're only words.

3. Ok, a person with a towel on their head of a scarf over their face is not your enemy. Potentially they could be but Timothy McVeigh, Ted Bundy and Charles Manson could be too.

4. Most of the Middle East hates you, its a fact, admit it. who cares, you hate them more. They live on the other side of the world, you hate your neighbour's depending on the color of their skin (this one dosn't apply to all of you) I just know it's still VERY bad in the South.

5. You guys have too many guns and weapons. Guns are illegal in Australia unless you have a VERY strict license, and guess what we get about 7 gun deaths a day on a bad day Australia Wide. (a little less than America I would think).

6. Land of the Free? you're prisoners sourounded by four shores and a lot of hatered. Take a look around then when you have, take another look, you're not free at all.

In conclusion America should stop and think hard about their next move and not just go in for the direct kill. Think about the criminal not just the label (a terrorist is not only middle-eastern or black).

Next time you buy a car instead of spending $15,000, spend $13,000 and donate the rest to a cause, it must make you feel a little better to provide over 1 thousand poverty stricken africans with clean running water and save many lives. And if it doesn't there is nothing anyone can do for you.

and no, i'm not a terrorist, just someone who can see what's real for once.

It's great with reverse flushing toilets. But we are SO behind technology, we just dig holes. My pet Kangeroo wouldn't like to be gunned down either. Australians are very worldly people, only Australians have such a vast knowledge and perception on the rest of the world (thats all we hear about) we don't have exciting things like Space Launches, Serial Killers, Snipers or National Security (at least not to your extent). Someone correct me if I'm getting my history mixed up here, it's been a while and I could be thinking of another . Wasn't the Romen Republic leinant with conquerd lands? Meaning once they took over they didn't really rule with an iron fist. They were allowed to keep their religion, and the Romens would actually improve the region through increaseing trade, public works projects, implimenting a fair law code and other such projects. The only real differance is they now had to pay a tax to the Republic. It wasn't untill years after the Romen Republic collapsed and the Romen Empire was born that some lousy rulars started to screw things up which was part of the reason the Empire collapsed.

It depends what slant you put on it. There are millions of books written about the Roman Empire and whether the effects of their rule were either good or bad. There's no good way to go into this thread and have it be "friendly" since everyone's left to pick a side.

The telephone was invented by a Scotsman, living in Canada. It was patented in the USA because the Canadian patent office was slow.

As I understand it, the Romans were very good rulers to most people they conquered, as long as their rule was accepted. Freedom of worship, running water, citizenship, etc.. But the more you resisted, the worse the punishment. Ethnic cleansing and genocide were not unheard of.
