Im from the North - never met a snake I was scared of, least not when I had my twelve gauge. Funniest thing I saw, there was this snake in my woodpile, my buddy (ex army) and I looked at it, and ran to the house for the gun... looking for it in the woodpile, .45 and shotgun in hand, his girlfriend (who weighs all of about 105lbs) walks over and picks it up to put it back in the woods.


::Shudders:: I lived in Georgia for a year - the pipes froze under the trailer once, I picked up the skirting, looked under, and decided they would thaw out by themselves, I hate bugs... snakes... lol.. Yep I'm a wimp

Killing snakes causes more harm than good. My grandfather has a little quarter acre garden that he grows vegetables and flowers in. A few years back, there was a warm winter and the rodent population was very high by that Summer. By July, he had lost almost 45% of his garden to rodents. In response, he went to the local pet store and bought 2 black rat snakes. He released them in the garden that afternoon, by August, his losses stood still at 45%...and some regrowth had happened on the flowers. He found the two black rat snakes, both were atleast 3 times heavier than earlier that summer. He put them in his basement for the winter, then in the spring released them again....the rodent population was even worse...however, he suffered no losses because the snakes ate all the rodents.

Snakes are your friends children, and last I checked, we don't shoot our friends.

Seriously though, snakes keep rodents in check. So unless you want rabies, quit shooting the snakes.

ive shot two snakes and killed 4. i bludgeoned a cotton mouth with a big block of cement i overturned once, and i killed a copperhead with a baseball bat when i was looking for balls.
i shot two rattelsnakes while i was hunting (different occasions. i stepped on one and it struck at my boots, but they were snakeboots (Chippewas* of course) the other i shot so quick i dont know what the hell happened, it came up in about 3 foot grass about a foot and a half away from me and a took my shotgun off safety and shot its whole head off except for a string of face and one fang in less than half a second. its was just RATTTLE BOOM!
we skinned that snake with a coke bottle and it was cool.

i do agree that snakes are awesome but not when they are poisonous and close to you. i have been bitten by a chicken snake but thats because i stepped on it too far back when i tried to catch it.

wow, cool. Seriously though, there is no purpose to killing a snake unless it's like holding your family hostage with a group of satanic mexican druglords. If it's scaring you, walk around it in(5-6' away).

Oh jesus why did you tell me this, I used to be cool with licking envelopes, becuase people are all like ew envelopes taset nasty and im all like its nto that bad but now...

I hate any bugs, there so nasty, I hate it when flys go in my mouth and stuff but most of all I hate cockroaches. I did pretty much the same thing tigerman did a week or so ago, I was just sitting at the kitchen table doing my homework and a little baby cockroach crawls along, and next thing you know, I'm standing on the table throwing anything I can grab at it Spiders arent that bad, if theres a spider(wow too much paintball almost typed spyder) crawling along then ill just go get a tissue and grab it, unless its really big. If its really big ill do the same thing I do with cockroaches
