I get all of my music off the airwaves
In fact every one of the songs I have I recorded off the airwaves at one point or another. It just so happens they're all in digital form now since it's easier to store than thousands of tapes. Oh well.

oh boy. they're from the projects too. that's just super. i just love the statements they made.
most if not everyone else who settled thus far has been able to get away without an admission of guilt. of course they were mostly college students. and probably not from the projects. so they could afford better lawyers.

Can anyone actually find data that is not skewed that proves that file shareing hurts the record industry? I saw a report on Dateline that said that CD sales went up when napster was in business because more people could listen to the music they want before buying it. I just can't seem to find that information on the net anywhere.

well i don't know about you guys but i plan to buy a lot more cds come october. although i'm still going to download and listen to as much as i can before buying.

The problem in my case is that most of the music I listen to is unavailable or very hard to get in north america...almost all of it is imported from europe, at costs up to $60 CAD per disc before customs charges.
But at this point in Canada, it is not illegal to download for personal use...only to distribute. So I close my shared folder and continue being a law abiding citizen who gets free music.

shartley I don't disagree with you at all... the RIAA has every right to be taking action. What I am saying is that it just does not make practical sence for them to be going about things in this manner.
So far as napster is concerned... yes the initial closedown of the service was their own fault.... but after this they tried to work with the RIAA and get things rolling again... and well we all knows where that one went.
And so far as artists... yeah I know first hand... but hey if they are going for $$ and make good music.. who am I to argue?
And so far as Mr Bush bombing things... can I put in an order for Celeine Dion's House here in vegas? Its an atrocity,, no its worse.. its pink.. wtfSig image must be under 20kComment

Hmmm yep. It's working. The RIAA's approach is making me stop file sharing. I'm gonna go out and buy their crappy CD's for $20 a pop ........and make hundreds of copies of them on my $50 CD burner and give them to all my friends for free.
