    Cars and systems

i was just wondering what kind of cars you drive and what kind of system you have in it. list any mods you added on and anything that might work for someone elses car.

    here's what i drive:
99 mercury cougar (not mods yet)
    system:
    JVC ElCamelion LX-300
Rockford Fosgate 2-channel 1000 watt amp
    2 JL W-3 12"

what i want to add to my car:
    borla
    ground effects and wing
    window graphics
    6 speed manual
    wheels
    NOS
hydrolics (or air suspension with switches)

let us know what you drive.

P.S.-i have some subs and amps for sale if anyone is interested.

'96 Ranger with air intake mods (K&N, air baffle gutted)

Kenwood head, Rock-Fos 400 watt amp, Rock-Fos 8" punch boxes behind the seats, 90 watt 6x9s in the doors.

Since I live in a retirement area, I get some really mean looks when I come thumping home

I used to work for Bryn Mawr Stereo and Video, a mid-high end electronics retailer on the East Coast (they are now known as Tweeter Etc. and the company also owns the Good Guys, Hi Fi Buys, and a bunch of other high end retailers around the country). So anyway, i used to get all my car and home theater stuff at or below cost. Needless to say, when I built my old system it would have cost like $3,000 retail but I only paid about $1,000. It was an amazing system. Here's what was in it:

Eclipse 5303R (famous headunit for its time, unpowered, motorized face, 8volt preouts!)

Eclipse 6452 Component speakers up front (these were the ones with the HUGE separate crossovers, silk dome tweeters, neudimium magnet structure 5 1/4 mids)

PPI 2100 2 channel sub amp (400 watts 1 ohm stable!! But i was running two JL IB4's [infinite baffle] subs, they were 4ohm so I was gettin about 150 per sub, but it was pure power, PPI makes THE best sub amps hands down)

Eclipse 5440 4 channel, 3 channel, or 2 channel amp (this one had active built in crossovers for all channels, had a total of 1 farad of capacitors built in. Each channel had a 1/4 farad capacitor built in!!) and I ran my front components. I had no rear speakers in my car cause I wanted a clear, crisp front stage.

*sigh* I miss my system so much. It was so nice. It wasent the best sounding system I ever heard, but I was proud cause I picked the stuff, installed most of it myself, and ran all the wires and such. I loved it. I sold it all for only $250 just this past summer. Im so stupid. I sold it to a trading post place. The kids workin there were fighting over who would get what. It was like vultures. But I NEEDED the cash for my new car. But I did get over two years of great service from it all, and the car it was in was dieing anyway. Thing left me stranded on the NJ Turnpike twice! Once AT the toll booth near the Holland Tunnel in NYC!!! And once right in FRONT of the Holland Tunnel entrence!!! YES! In FRONT of the Holland Tunnel, I had to get out of the car and my friends and I pushed the POS Plymoth Acclaim across 6 lanes of traffic. I hate that car. I was so happy to get rid of it.

How's about some pictures guys? Miscue I want to see your Mustang

I currently drive the New Toyota Celica 190 (highest powered version they do here) and I love it. It's great for these roads and work driving. I can run it nice and easy for work and then wind it up to 8,000RPM for the country lanes

A friend of mine has just imported a Humvee and at some point in the future I'm hoping to bring in a yank muscle car (Mustang Probably not decided yet).

Anyways here is my ride, It's actually my company car but that just makes it better!

              And THE badge that counts...

The sound system is just stock, but it's not bad. CD system and it plays loud enough to hurt my ears.

Yeah and you're gonna hate this... I just had my boss over from Germany and he is a great guy. Big car fan also. As you come out my office there is two sets of lights... if you nail it at the first set you can just get through the next set before they go red... but it's close, a bit too close really... as I was telling him this he said "we'll need to get you something more powerful for your next company car, then you'll be able to do it easily" How cool? I need to do 100,000 Kilometres or three years in that car... hmm I need to drive it more as I haven't even had it a year yet...

Did I mention I love my job.

Company meals and business dinners are SUCH fun. I'm flying to Germany tomorrow for a huge machining show and will have to spend the week eating out with the company... oh such hardships.

Did I mention I love my job.

Oh and I get to meet Dan from Triggernomics in Germany tomorrow...

Did I mention I love my job hehehe

there is only one bad thing about my car, it has an acceleration govenor on it. if i could override that i would have 170 hp on the road when i hit the gas. it has a 2.5 liter V6 with dual over head cams and a HUGE manifold. the engine sounds small but it fills the whole compartment. on wet pavement i got it to spin the tires (front wheel drive too) through 3 of the 4 gears. in 2nd it would not grip the road at all, when i went into drive it shifted, spun, and then grabbed. i love my car. it's very fast. havent tried the 1/4 mile yet but i have gotten it up to 120 in a short stretch. i dont have a digital camera yet but when i do i'll get pics.

                    i love my car,
as for my job, it could be better.

Dont bother trying to switch from an auto to a 6-speed. It's alot of trouble, and a lot of expense. Even if you can do it yourself, your looking at 1-3 grand worth of parts. If you cant do it yourself, the labor is gonna kill ya.

Its a front drive car, ford doesnt make a 6speed manual tranny for a front drive car. You would have to look to mazda (ford and mazda had a joint venture sort of thing going the probe and mx-6 were the same car, navaho and explorer) Anyways, I doubt that you can find a 6speed for a front drive car that isnt out of a Honda. If you want the manual tranny, sell your car then go buy the 5-speed version and keep the change.
