My weight loss progress :) time to brag a little :)

Well some of you might remember that back in June I decided that it was time to lose some weight and I decided that no matter what I was going to stick to it.

Well in June when I started I weighed in at between 225 to 230 lbs ... also I am 6'00" tall so as to give you a reference.

Today I weighed in and I am now 172 lbs ... in much better health, much faster on the field (Being a front man I had to get slim again) and getting back into the shape I was when I was in the Marines.

When I got out in 1997 my three mile run time was ~23-24:00 (I was never a fast distance runner) ... I was 21 at the time.

Now six years later my three mile run time is around ~25:30 ... only 1:30 off of what I did six years earlier.

Ultimately I am looking to be between 165-170 lbs and able to once again pass a Marine PFT at around a high second class score.

Enough of my bragging ... just felt good about it and wanted to share

Good deal, dude. I lost about 35 lbs or so in the spring, and after a lazy summer (didn't gain any back, but didn't lose any more either), I'd like to lose about 15-20 more lbs, and then put it back on as muscle.

My goal is to get back into the shape I was when I was playing lacrosse a few years back, or at least close to it.

Good luck on the rest of your goal.

Congrats man!!! That is cool. I've been getting into shape for the last year as well. I haven't seen weight drop off like that, but I can bench alot more than I used to be able to.

You gotta post a corny before and after pic!

Thanks for the congrats everyone, I dont typically brag about myself but this is something that I felt really good about.

To answer your question Dansim, I have been doing both Atkins and working out 2-3 times a week.

For about the first three months I was doing about 20-25 grams of carbs a day (The food pyramid would have you do 300 grams a day) ... this brought on the most drastic weight loss. The past month though Id had been stuck at 175, so I increased my intake of carbs and this kicked my metaobolism back in and I started to lose more again. At first I was doing around 2-3 pounds a week, which slowed to about 1-2 pounds a week. Currently I am dropping 1-2 pounds ever few weeks, which is a average amount.

The biggest change in my diet was the dropping of soda, and other sugar loaded drinks. I used to drink 3-4 cans of soda while at work and a usually a 20oz bottle while going to pick up the kids.

In the past four months I have had a total of 3 sodas, one in a Jack and Coke while out one night before a tourney and the other two while at a friends house. Neither of the other two could I finish ... I find soda to be think tasting now and I couldnt even finish a can. I currently drink about 3-4 liters of water a day (work and on the ride home) and I drink Crystal Light at home.

I average about 1500 calories a day, take a daily multi-mineral/multi-vitamin, and work out 2-3 times a week. My work out includes; 35 mins on either a treadmil, eliptical machine, or stair stepper, multiple sets of moderate weight on the benchpress, fly press, and pull-down machine.

Food wise I eat mostly fish and chicken. I eat a low-carb, high protein with high mineral and vitamin content hot cereal ... mostly soy and whey proteins but tasty as hell ... in the morning. Lunch is typically a salad with a tuna or chicken warp (low carb tortialla), and dinner will be an entree with a salad starter and a vegtable side dish or small helping of low carb pasta. Desert is sometimes Jello with whip-cream my fav ... or any of the great low-carb candy bars they have.

This is an easy diet to maintain, and every once in awhile I cheat ... but even then its never more then 40-50 grams over my daily limit

Way to go, it feels great to loose weight. Last summer I got sick and lost 25lbs (eating just enough to stay alive for 10 days then I had no appatite after that). Ive put it back on since then, and really miss being at that weight. The last week or so ive cut most of the junk out of my diet, and started to do some relativly light workouts, hopefully I will see somthing.
Good luck though, and way to go.

Actually this on the diet Most "hot and spicy" buffalo sauces are at most 3-4 grams of carbs, and the onions and green peppers are also small amount. Bleu cheese is my favorite ... I use it in place of steak sauce on my steaks and chicken ...

The bread and fries on the other hand LOL ...

                            Doh!! Another joke backfires...

Actually, that makes me feel a little better for eating it.
I don't have any fries tho...

I've got to start watching what I eat but I don't have much self control. I always tell myself "I can eat that, I'll just work it off later" Doesn't seem to be working.....

Alright you have motivated me. I need to lose about 20 pounds to get back to my fit 170s (I'm actually about the same height as you and my name is also Aaron).

I was got down to the low 180s but then injured my achilles tendon and started an eating binge with very little exercise and went back to around 190. So here we go again.....

Congratulations and thanks for the motivation. We'll see if it works.....
