So... I need a knife for work. Any suggestions?

It has come to my attention that I can not get by at my job w/o a cutting instrument. I work for a landsacping company and I'm constantly opening bags (mulch and stuff) and having to cut new trimmer line and other such nonsense. So I guess I should get a knife.

i used to have a Kershaw. Not sure what type but it was pretty nice. But exspensive.

Any suggestions? Please keep in mind that i don't need a Ka-bar or Rambo's knife. I'm not going to be cutting the hearts out of my enemies. Just something that can be managed easily with one hand.

A have a Kershaw, I think it's called a Ken Onion. That thing is awesome... I've had it for about 4 years, NEVER ONCE sharpened it, and it still cuts anything. Plus the serration is great, if you like/need that.

Get a switchblade from a flea market. I have one, and I love it. Yeah....it's illegal, but it's got a safety. Best knife I've ever owned.

Gerber Gator. Best knife I've ever owned and used. I've never sharpened it. Works great.

I had a Smith and Wesson that was pretty decent. SWAT series with the partially serrated blade, and black blade. After about a year of abusing the heck out of it though the blade has a tiny bit of play that I cannot seem to get rid of. Keep in mind that this thing was used all the time, and was misused by throwing, cutting through metal etc. I managed to slightly bend the blade one time that I threw it and it didn't hit right though. But for $30 (retails around $45) I think its good.
I have another knife I actually found in a streem, the blade seems a little tuffer, but I don't really the way it feels, doesn't really balence well, the grip is odd, and its alot harder to open than the S&W.
The retail price on these are about the same, but I don't think that I would have bought the Gator I think it is.
Kershaw is a pretty reputable brand, I was looking at them for my next knife, or possibly Benchmade or Benchmark (forget which one, but I don't know much about them).
MOD makes some nice looking knives, and I would imagine for starting prices around $180 they would be pretty good, but I don't think I would spend that much on something i'm likely to loose at work, or without knowing more about the quality.

Well, I did the same thing over the summer, and I just used a gerber knife that I kept on my keychain (I figured that way I would be more careful with it and not lose it) http://www.gerberblades.com/products...php?model=5874 is the model. I wouldn't get something too expensive, just incase you lose it, or happen to break the blade or something. Seration is nice, although it doesn't last too long and is hard to sharpen.

Get a buck knife. My buck is awesome, I got mine on vacation in San Diego for like 15 dollars. It came with a little red knife (really good, my main knife) and this fat fishing knife. And they are awesome.

Go spyderco all the way. Owned several delicas, enduras, and three other models. They are so good that baggage handlers consistently steal them from my baggage. Lucky me. I have owned 7 spyderco's... down to 3. And go for the serrated blades, they stay sharp longer.

I carry two knifes, not at the same time though.

For work I have a crkt kiss knife, for home/whatever else I use a spyderco native.

Spyderco are very nice, I just dont want to mess up my nice spyderco cutting junk at work. Got my Kiss knife at a gun show for 25bucks and couldnt be happier.

I have a Gerber Gator (from my days in the service) and also have never had to sharpen it once. I also carry my Leathermans tool and an Old Timer pocket knife.
