I get hit in the neck at least once every day I play. Or at least used to... I've since gotten smarter.

Anyway, I've had hits on the side, below my ear, dead center, adam's apple, heck, if it's on my neck it's been hit. It's never done any harm to me at all (except for the one that was all full of shell and was bleeding down my shirt and it hurt really bad when the wind hit it, but it was kind of funny)

So... neck shots eventually stop being noticed entirely.
Or... I have no nerves left.

i got a bouncer in the adams apple from across the field and it was the worst pain ever. Well not even as much pain. It was the sensation of not being able to breathe that bothered me.

well i just got shot in the neck again today and it hurts like a mofo right now...looks like a NASTY hickey too....mmm bleeding hickey.....lol jk....anyway, the pain isnt impossible to deal with, and you can say you got some action....soooooo i am still not gonna invest in a neck protector....wow i use a lot of elipses...lol

ive been shot in the neck before with and without neck protectors.

the time without the neck protector was terrible. i yelped and got pissed.

the time when i was wearing a cheesy neck protector it just stung and i got pissed.

but then i bought a good neck protector and all was well, i got shot and it really didn't sting that much, i just got pissed that i got shot.


hmm who would have known, but it seems in my getting out of paintball sale (thread in my sig) i have a jt GOOD neck protector for sale. if anyone is interested gimme a shot. i won't be needing it anymore.

what would you guys recommend? I was looking at the kingman java neck protector because its big and protects below your neck as well. wat do you all use?

i would really say that neck protectors are a waste of money. unless you have breathing problems, getting shot in the trachea wont be too bad, and getting shot in the neck just stings.

I don't think that a paintball has enough mass to carry 7lbs of force into your body. Yes seven pounds of force can kill someone - however it has to be seven pounds when it hits the vital spot. I honestly do not expect that will happen with a paintball - even a bit above 300fps.

The fact is the paintball explodes (or bounces) getting rid of a lot of the energy from the hit (someone can explain this more technically then me). They may carry a lot (ok... quite a bit but not a ton) of energy, but it is not all forced against you. They are simply too light to do much damage to the human body.

I understand there are freak occurences, but they are very very rare.

Someone needs to lookup the formula. However, the mass of a paintball is so small that it won't generate 7lbs of force. I doubt it's even close.

Not that it won't hurt like hell.
