AO: We are back from the dead... again! After an 18 day outage, we are finally alive and well. Who knew how complicated updating software/databases from 2008 would be. I still have alot of tweaks to make, but my main goal was getting everything patched and updated to 2026.
Vbulletin 6 has changed alot since 2008 so we will have a ton of new features to dig into.
Ok let me think like CB... what if they got small air tanks on? Then they could walk about and do what ever they wanted with no passengers to worry about.

*I could stop a terrorist attack though. I have watched enough Arnold and Sly movies that I am ready to save the plane/world/girl on demand!
The problem with you as a hero is that you would start with saving the girl and forget everything else! (you know the world and plane part are important as well) We all know your type....

While frangible bullets, that fragment upon impact with a hard surface rather than penetrate, are available, they are generally not used on aircraft. The rounds that the marshals carry need to be able to penetrate seats that are being used as cover by their targets. A round that wont penetrate the fuselage also will not penetrate the seat. Again, a few small holes in an aircraft will not cause explosive decompression. There if far more danger in shooting the vital hydraulics and electronics under the cabin then there is in putting a few thru the skin of the craft. The pilots will immediately take the plane to a safe altitude in the event of an emergency anyways.

Originally posted by Collegeboy The question evolved into is it effective to have a gun on an airplane. I simply said that I do not for the risk out weigh the possible gains IMO. I then asked people to see if there are other possible ways in which you can handle this situation without the dangers of having a gun or any other type of weapon on the plane. I could have posted my opinions, but it would have done nothing, for forcing you to think of them on your own, leads you to think about the question more then me just reciting to you. It is a strategy of teaching that is ages old. You do not tell your students what to believe, you do not give them new ideas, your let them discover their own ideas based on the information present at that time. That way they are truly educated in that area. (now waiting for the customary insults thrown towards my direction)
Heheheheheheh I like you because you make me laugh
Originally posted by Collegeboy There are far too many options out there of what can be done, all of which have there own advantages and disadvantages. There are far too many for me to name, and you all know the alternatives.
The question is with the overall ineffectiveness of a gun (even with special bullets) of stopping a group of terrorist, why not use something else.

Well EXCUUUUUUUUSE ME for being straight!
Besides getting the girl is what it is all about right? Darn the fact that I am too old to do anything with her once I get her though.....
Again read my response to why I will not tell you. One of my ideas was the rapid decompressing of the plane, or someway in which to make the passengers fall asleep with the lowest level of harm to their body.
The idea of a hole in the plane is rather a moot point. For I am not saying that bullet holes in the side of the plane will cause a vacuum and suck everything out all the time. I said that a few bullet holes in the side of an airplane can lead to a bigger hole then the one bullet hole people like to say. That if that hole gets big enough (talking about man size), can lead to a rapid decompressing and the sucking out of contents of the plane But the likelihood of that happening is beyond the boundaries of likely to happen.

Yea, teachers do do that to invoke the thought process. The reason that this is so effective is because they have to think with the limited knowledge that has been presented by the teacher. Sorry, but it seems like everyone that is against you has thought about this for a good while. So this age old tactic is irrelevant in this case.
