It's legal in your lease to drink as a minor? Hmmmm... Not sure you meant that in the way you said it. I hardly think they would allow that specificly in a lease of any kind in any Dorm I know of.

I would think its a general clause that no illegal activity may be conducted in there. And underage drinking would be one of those.

And yeah, don't commit a crime and then complain about entrapment or whatever it was. If you want to get into technicalities, then they can just say, "Well you were drinking underage anyway". Lying when it comes to the law is usually not the best idea.

On Edit: AO claims to be completely unlike PBN, for the most part I'd agree, but after trolling both here and PBN, I seem to catch a lot less flak over there...interesting, isn't it?

I'm willing to bet the reason you don't catch as much flak at PBN is directly related to the maturity level of many of the people who post there. And it's not interesting. You even state the reaction of people here is different from the reactions of people there, so you're doing nothing but proving the point others have made that AO is different from PBN. I'm quite happy that many people here don't share the same opinions as the 14-year olds over there.

I'll disagree with you until the children start acting like adults. I strongly believe that age has nothing to do with maturity (myself included; I'm not always the most mature of 30-year olds ). I don't think arbitrary numbers, such as 18 and 21, should be used as markers of adulthood. Unfortunately, I cannot offer an alternative.

Well Polish if you just want feelie good confirmation and sympathy and not real reactions, opinions and advice then its useless to ask for it here. Unless your of course completely right all along... Sorry you are not getting the answer you wanted. Sometimes thats the way it goes. I don't think a lot of people are going to sympathise with this person. Even though a lot of us have done exactly what he did. But when we looked back we knew it was wrong. Even if we did not get caught! No matter if it was us that did it ourselves or not. I have done many things in my life just like this. Some I got caught at and some not. But they all were wrong. And so I can sympatize with his situation but yet I cannot in good conscience tell him he is right. Sometimes ya gotta admit your wrong and move on. This looks like one of them to me.

Thats a good point in that an RA can hardly enforce or evoke a contract. But however they can set the wheels in motion...

Like I said I'm not touching this one, not worth my time, something tells me he just wants to get out of getting caught drinking. I dont agree with what the RA did, but its not really my problem. And putting the blame back on the RA really isn't gonna work in this case.

I was an RD my last 2.5 years in school.

Trust me whoever is invovled needs to do the right thing and yes whoever is at fualt can certianly boot your butt right off campus.

We had this "problem" student. She was smoking weed off campus and would come back and raise all kinda of hell. Some how we found out she had been nailed by the police in the past for some kind of drug use. We forwared that nice bit of info to the fincial aid office, which inturn made her ineligble for further aid, so she went home and dropped out of school.

Let me give you guys alittle advice
Do not piss of your RA's, AHDs, HDs, or any of your res life staff. You may think you are standing up for something you believe in or you may think your cool, but I gurentee that when you fight res life will hit you back 10x's harder. Most of the folks who wokr in your hall want nothing more than to go to class and do as little work as possible. Dont make thier lives any harder than neccasary!

No I worded it badly.

It says in my lease I can be kicked out for doing illegal stuff. My point was if my lease can legally say that I'm sure whatever you sign to live in the dorms can also.

There is always a conduct agreement. Infact at check-in the resident recieves a copy of the good ol rules book and is asked to sign some paperwork that states they read and understand the materil.
