I beleive they do not sell surplus Humvees from the military, something to do with being concerned about some "technician" at autozone or something opening the hood and having or causing all sorts of problems with the 24 volt electrical system (don't quote me on that).

The H1 - awesome, 2 to 1 gear reduction at the end of the axle coupled with a 4:11 gear ratio (I think). The SOB can climb a 2 foot tall wall, of course its top speed is also pretty close to 80MPH but. That does not even consider the optional snorkel kit. Considering the civilian model has leather options I can't imagine watching the water run into the interior. These are just awesome, and have no use in the civilian world other than off road.

The H2 - buy a Suburban, aside from looks the Suburban will do. That being said how much is a Suburban loaded out? - you may be surprised to find it as expensive as the H2.

I remember my reaction the first time I saw a picture of one of these, oh.. three years ago. "Good Lord, why don't they just paint it pink!!"

But hey, I'm not going to judge anyone based on what they drive. My family, for example, NEEDS a big SUV. It would be irresponsible for us to drive a few cars at once instead of one big Suburban. If some soccer mom needs an H2 to impress her kids' friends, more power to her.

I can look past that, simply because it is the awesomeness of a hummer. However, H2s aren't even hummers anymore.

"Anyone who drives one is pathetic and is irresponsible for using so much gas. Moreover, half the people I see driving them are soccer moms on cell phones. I hate them."

First of all, the H2 is a oversized suburban, and the only reason reason anyone would pay 50,000 for that peice of junk is becuase they bought 30,000 worth of hype.

Second, I'll drive any vehical I can afford to drive no matter how much gas it uses. I can afford the gas, and its none of your business how much my vehical uses. I'll be glad to use up the gas you save by driving some peice of crap electric car, by driving something that gets 8-10 mpg. I'd be glad to dump 50 gals of gas on the ground and start one hellacious bonfire. And if you find that to be a problem, I'd be happy to use you for kindling.

Personally I hate SUV's, but I have to agree with rooster. If you like the H2, and have enough money to buy one, buy it. Also, lets not start how many MPG the H2 gets, because basically, any American car with a V8 can fall into the category of wasting gas, and really, you aren't wasting gas if you use it. I pay for the gas, I can use it how I want.

and whoever said some sports cars use more gas then the H2, well that doesn't matter. Different cars are built for different purposes. A sports car is made to go fast, the H2 was made to get people to buy an overpriced suburban with a body kit.

                      well, I really don't care.

if you can afford the H2, the gas to run them, the tires and the inshurance go for it. just know how to drive something that big and can park it...or I'll make fun of you for getting a license when you obviously don't deserve one and give you a door ding when I can't get out of my jeep

note: I don't really ding cars.. that's just retarded

I know that many times none of these things are the “reason” the items were purchased.

Can they be a factor for their decision making? Sure, at times. And folks would be dishonest if they didn’t admit that many of these thoughts go through our heads when we go to purchase a major item. But they are not the determining factor for most people.

But it is much easier to dislike someone who can obviously afford more than we can. It is much easier to try to chop them down, or assign them mental deficiencies in one way or another...
It seems like you're generalizing here and saying "everyone who dogs an H2 is jealous because their poor."
                            ...And that "gets to me".

My comment you alluded to above was based on my experience (tho limited it may be) involving a few people I know with hummers. They all had the same elitist attitudes and all drove the same thing.

But, yeah, Samuel, I guess I hate hummers cause they're out of my financial reach...

But hey, if you want to READ that into what I wrote, be my guest. Just know that I didn’t make that generalization, you only claimed I was… there is a difference. And news flash, I am FAR from being poor, but I can’t afford an H2. So jealousy does not have to hinge on being “poor”, and not being able to afford things does not instantly MAKE you poor either. ...
I never said you were poor. If it seemed implied, either I must have worded my post wrong, or you must have read it wrong. Upon reviewing my post, I believe the latter.
I'm not jealous of those with H2's (not just because I dont' like them either...). Nor do I believe that anyone else that shares my negative opinion of the H2 does so out of jealousy over financial status. Sometimes people just have opinions.
