Ways to send a car to hell?

out of the ever-popular anarchist cookbook I read something about thermite. I did research on this and found it to be rust and aluminum lit with magnesium ribbon. Does anyone know a way to get some iron to oxidize (rust) overnight or something?

also, post any fun mixtures that make smoke, bad odors, etc.

Ex: drano + tin foil = hydrogen

EDIT: mods if this isnt appropriate please delete it.

    EDIT 2: more formulas

Fine ground Aluminum + Fine ground rust ----> lit with magnesium ribbon = thermite reaction (burns in excess of 6000 degress F)

brake fluid + clorox = lots and lots of smoke

liquid nitrogen + shaving cream = peel of can and watch...

    I'll post more later

Uhhh...I believe there was a thread a while ago with a similar amateur bomb building theme. Don't be suprised if this gets closed.

By the way...the Anarchist's Cookbook has been rewritten and altered so often that many of the plans I've seen seem to be designed to injure whoever tries them Just look for the car battery bomb...

It's been a while since I've been in a chemistry class but isn't water a base which nuetralizes acid? So why would it cause flames if you mixed the 2?

It is true, If you add watter an pure acid, your gonna lose alot of your face, cuz of the explosion of boiling watter flying through the air. But I heard it depends on how you add it. ie, if you do it one way, say add the acid to the watter, it wont explode, or at least not as badly, but if you add water to pure acid....BOOOOOM. Can anyone verify this?

And how bout this combo, gasoleen and matches.

This has to do with the jumping atoms of hydrogen I believe.

But you are correct. Acid into water, never water into acid.

Try brake fluid and pool shock. (Apparently a nice fireball.)

For instant rust you can spread out some powdered iron on a tray and spray it with water. Should rust up pretty quick. My problem has always been finding powdered aluminum.

And an easier way to light it is potassium permanganate and glycerine. You put the pot. perm. crystals on top of the thermite, pour the glycerine on the crystals, then run while it heats up.

Better napalm... diesel & styrofoam... This is some hella sticky stuff, so be *very* careful.. & it burns for a LONG time.. left a big black mark on the pavement outside, which is still there today. Lit it ~7 years ago

Take an average piece of steel wool and sprinkle it with water. Let it sit in a bowl or something for a couple of days and it should be completely rusted. Unfortunately, if you need it overnight, there won't be much rust.

Some heat packs that people use for hiking/hunting/snowboarding use finely ground iron. It exerts heat because of the oxidation. In things like hunks of iron, you don't notice the heat. But with these small pieces, the surface area to volume ratio is very high.

You're going to need something to keep the thermite from burning through your mom's kitchen table.

Not gonna happen Thermite will flash-evaporate large quantities of water, and can burn through concrete with ease. It'll go right through just about any metal shy of Titanium. It burns REALLY hot.

If you want to mess with it, besides the obviousness of being really careful, do so over a large quantity of dirt or sand. If you want to see something cool, put the termite powder in something that will burn, and suspend it over a big coffee can full of water. Ever see a gallon of water turn into steam almost instantaneously?
